Authentic Chateau Experience
We stayed for 3 nights in October 2011 and would have liked to stay longer.
The Gatehouse was setup with everything you need including a washing machine which is always good when you are travelling.
Also quite an adventure (for Kiwis at least) to be staying in an authentic historical building, complete with stone walls and exposed wooden beam ceilings.
We corresponded by email with Lesley and Paul and they were very helpful regarding details for the stay, and even arranged for the local winemaker to pay a call one evening. Being budding wine enthusiasts, that was a highlight for us as his wines were great and also his English (since our French was high school and not well practiced!) – a most enjoyable tasting and we even managed to carry 2 bottles back to New Zealand!!! It’s a pity we couldn’t take more ?
Kristelle (our local host, as Lesley and Paul were overseas at the time) met us after we arrived, and was very good – organised replacement gas bottles very quickly when they ran out the first night.
All in all we would definitely recommend staying here. Large hypermarkets are quite close by, so no problem getting supplies, and quite close to several interesting places to visit (we went to Chablis, Auxerre, Troyes, Dijon, Vezelay – all highly recommended).
