2 bedroom detached character farmhouse, with garden, sleeping 4-5 flexibly

This attractive old beamed Normandy farmhouse, offers home from home comfort in beautiful countryside a short drive from Honfleur. The house stands in a large enclosed garden, down a quiet lane. It is away from it all, but still only a 20 min drive from Deauville and Trouville. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, each with twin beds, or super king-size if preferred. There is a family bathroom between the bedrooms. The ground floor is a large open area, with comfortable living room, ( Sat TV, and a futon offering an optional further sleeping arrangement) and behind exposed beams, a dining room. To the rear downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen, a washing room with washer and tumble dryer, a shower room with basin, and separate WC.

The owners of this property are Rob & Francoise Sanders, who live in their old pressoir within the grounds. The couple ran successful restaurants in London over many years, and Francoise's considerable chef skills are available by prior arrangement.

Fourneville, in Calvados, is a peaceful rural village just 10 min drive inland (9 km) from picturesque Honfleur, with its Marina, and buzzing pavement cafes and restaurants.

The surrounding countryside is green and pretty, and offers both good walking and cycling. By car, the attractions of Deauville and Trouville, with beaches, casinos, and horse-racing, are only 20 minutes away, and Caen, the D-Day beaches, and Bayeux are within easy reach.

Award winning cider and Calvados is produced by a neighbouring farm, less than half a kilometre away, and Golf at St Gatien is a 5 min drive.

Fourneville lies just 30 km from the car ferry port at Le Havre, and is just south of the spectacular Pont de Normandy, a journey of less than half an hour by car. Calais is 215 km, and a 3 h drive.

Quite simply, this is an ideal base for exploring the many attractions and historical sites of this beautiful area of Normandy, or for simply relaxing with nature.

Rental Rates for this vacation farmhouse rental in Honfleur, France

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency () unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • The owner of this property accepts payment in the original currency specified (British Pounds), before use of conversion tool. The conversion tool is provided for your convenience only. The owner may accept other currencies if specifically agreed in advance.

    A non refundable deposit of 25% is payable on reservation. Balance of the rent is due 6 weeks before arrival.

    If rent is paid in Euro, the exchange rate is the one at time of booking, when the deposit is paid. Please use the drop down currency Converter as a guide. If it is agreed that the full rental amount is payable at a later date, the exchange rate will be decided on the day of payment.
    All rent should be transferred electronically into the owners British Pound Bank account, with any charges paid by the persons booking, leaving the full rental figure intact.

    A deposit of £150 will be requested upon arrival, as security against damage or breakages. This will be refunded immediately after vacation of premises.
  • Arrival time is 4pm (16:00 h) on a Saturday afternoon.
    Check out time is 10am on a Saturday morning.

  • The upstairs family bathroom was fitted out in 2010, and has a large bath, with shower unit and screen at one end, and a toilet. There is a bathroom cabinet, wash basin with mirror, and an electric radiator. The downstairs shower room has a shower cubicle, and a wash basin with shelving and mirror. There is also a separate WC, adjacent to the shower room. Towels are included in the rental price, and a hair dryer is provided.

  • The bedrooms are newly decorated, and the beds were new in 2010. The rooms are light and bright, with windows to both the front and rear of the house, and there are attractive views from all windows. Both rooms have two spacious single divan beds, but either room easily converts to an extra large Super king-size bed, if preferred. Bedroom one has a chest of drawers, old pine cupboard with shelf, and a clothes horse for hanging. There is also a vanity unit and mirror with chair, and bedside reading lights. Bedroom two has a dressing table with drawers, and a fitted wardrobe with hanging space. There are also two small bedside tables, with reading lights. Both bedrooms are of a size that would accommodate a children's cot if necessary. In the event of the need for more sleeping space, the futon in the ground floor living room converts to a medium size double bed. Bed linen and blankets are included in the rental price.

Her skills are considerable in the kitchen, and anything is possible, just ask. The owners will try to do everything to make your stay pleasant. When they are away, with your own key to both the property and the electric gates, there should be nothing to distract from a very enjoyable visit.

Just spent 5 gloriously peaceful days with Robert and Francoise in their beautiful self-catering farmhouse in the countryside of Fourneville, Northern France, aptly named The Little Gem and offering us every amenity to make our stay such a comfort and joy. And we took up the offer of Francoise' whose food and culinary skills, when not wishing to cater for ourselves, was first class and a delight to experience.
We received a BIG WELCOME on arrival and BIG HOSPITALITY through our holiday and will DEFINITELY be returning next year for some more FIRST CLASS PAMPERING.
The location is ideal for touring the Normandy countryside, historic sites and cities and after each day of doing so we enjoyed the peaceful ambience of our accommodation and the beautiful garden and countryside surrounding us.
The perfect holiday. THANK YOU SO MUCH..

Beautifully Relaxing Stay

My daughter and I just returned from our trip to Germany, Italy and France and we will definitely hold dearest the memories of our stay in this very comfortable and quaint home in the Normandy countryside. The property owners Francoise and Rob were so kind and hospitable; we really didn't want to leave.

While we visited the beautiful towns of Honfluer,Trouville, Deauville and the D-Day beaches we could have seen much more but found the house and its' beautiful gardens so relaxing and soothing that we were completely content to start our days in the early afternoon. There are wonderful cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and fresh foods of all kinds close by so it's easy to prepare healthy meals each day. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind while still being close to all of the many historical sites and natural beauty this area has to offer - this is the place!
Owner's Response: We really feel that our spot in Normandy is a bit of an "Oasis", but when others feel the same way, we feel so happy.
