About Susan Baxter
We live for most of the year in a small village in Kent. My husband has taken up painting again after many years and I have a degree in the History of Art. We love to walk, cycle, swim and ski. We bought the house for the whole family to use and we all absolutely love our time in Ceret. We constantly find new areas to discover and things to do.
Susan Baxter purchased this house in 2006
Why Susan Baxter chose Ceret
We had a list of criteria when we started looking for a house in Ceret. It had to be within easy walking distance of the centre and we wanted a house full of light and a feeling of space. We had to do a lot of work on the our house but we have enjoyed the project, especially finding furniture and fitments from the various brocantes in the area.
What makes this house unique
Why Ceret? My husband was born in Brasil so we wanted the guaranteed warm weather and mountains. We love the sea and the fact that we can be in France for breakfast and have lunch in Spain is a real bonus! There is also a new fast speed train from Perpignan to Barcellona which takes 45 mins which is fantastic!
We love the coastline and if we are not swimming we are either cycling or walking or just relaxing in a cafe or browsing the many galleries. We also take the opportunity to head for the mountains in winter for a day or two of skiing. Now we have grandchildren it is great to have the use of the outside swimming pool in Ceret and the swimming lake just 10 mins drive away. The lake has a great restaurant and lots of activities for all the family set in a wonderful landscape. The Art Museum in Ceret is international and after the planned extension will be one of the leading galleries in France.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Just a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Ceret. Your house was well equiped, spacious and very comfortable, and well positioned in the town.
we loved Ceret and the beachs around Collioure and eventually the weather turned out to be very warm indeed.
