About Lesley White

We are a farming family from the Scottish Borders comprising Graham,Lesley,Avril,Claire,Dizzy,Struan and not forgetting Dave the dog our 2 year old Collie cross Poodle!.We are livestock farmers and have both cattle and sheep so the entire family has to rally round.

Why Lesley White chose East Lothian

We chose this property as I have spent every summer in North Berwick over the last 54 years and regard it as a second home. Graham and I were looking for somewhere to eventually retire to and were extremely lucky when this property came up 2 years ago. After a lot of work we completed the modernisation in the spring of 2011

What makes this apartment unique

It is only necessary to walk into the property to see why we fell in love with it. Everyone who visits heads straight to the windows where the views are truly magnificent. At high tide it is almost like being in a boat looking down into the ocean and the uninterupted view of the famed Fidra sunset is unrivalled. There is a different picture from each window in the property. Almost secondary is the fact that the town is merely metres away but the only sounds heard at night are the waves.

New Berwick New Year

We escaped from Edinburgh for a seaside New Year. The flat is perfect in every respect for any season: warm, welcoming, wonderful views and the Owners could not have been more accommodating and responsive. The bedrooms are lovely, the living area is very spacious and comfortable and the flat has been kitted out as a home-from-home, even allowing for a baking afternoon when it was too cold for the beach.
Our four children range from fourteen to three and North Berwick has something for everyone. We are keen golfers, but there was so much to do on offer, we hardly had time to play.
We even helped save a baby seal that had become stranded on the slipway below our window - what an adventure!

Perfect!

We wrapped up a fantastic trip to Scotland to compete in a number of Highland Games, including the World Pipe Championships by extending our stay in North Berwick. Fidra View was wonderful - the pictures and guest comments offered a glimpse of what we would expect however our expectations were more that surpassed. The accommodation for our family (3 adults & 2 children) was perfect. The full kitchen, bath arrangements and living area were well stocked and very comfortable. Being right on the harbour was amazing! Activities, restaurants and shopping were all close at hand. North Berwick is a lovely seaside town and we hope to return soon! Lesley was wonderful to work with and was so accommodating with our questions and a date change. We would return to Fidra View without hesitation.

Fidra View - Fantastic in every way.

We are a family of 4 and we stayed at Fidra View for 5 nights over the half term holiday. The apartment exceeded our expectations in every way. It was beautifully furnished with great attention to detail, immaculately clean and well equipped. One of the highlights for us was the amazing view from each of the windows, a joy to open the blinds each morning and take a look out of each one.
The location of the apartment could not have been more convenient for the beach and town with it's many lovely coffee shops and restaurants and 2 small supermarkets opened late, catering for your every need.
With 2 beautiful beaches, one either side of the apartment and lovely coastal walks, what more could you want from a holiday location? Numerous fantastic golf courses right on the doorstep too - my husband really enjoyed playing North Berwick links course and how quaint to stroll along the beach to get to the first tee.
The upmarket town of Gullane is just a few miles away with a beautiful beach and the perfect type of skimming stones (my son could have stayed there for days). Falko's is a superb place for coffee/lunch/tea also selling unusual German style bakery delicacies. The Old Club House served delicious evening meals.
We took the train to Edinburgh for the day which was very convenient (just 30 minutes), what a wonderful city.
All in all, Fidra View was an amazing holiday home in a perfect location and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone. We certainly hope to return in the not too distant future. Many thanks to Lesley for her great attention to detail.

like living in a beautiful boat

we arrived at fidra view at the end of a 3 month trek around Europe (from Australia) with 3 children in tow. we were delighted to find ourselves literally 'at the seaside'. the views from every window are stunning and it felt like we were on a cruise liner watching the ever changing vistas of sailing races, dogs frolicking on the beach and the sun setting over the fidra and bass rock. we were even able to sit inside in comfort while our children built sandcastles on the beach. the apartment was immaculate and equipped with everything a family could need. the town of north berwick itself is charming and felt safe enough for the children to go on solo jaunts to the sweet shop or supermarket. the flat was a wonderful base for exploring the lovely north east coastal towns. We also made a couple of easy day trips into Glasgow and Edinburgh during our 10 day visit. we would love to return again.

Amazing views and wonderful flat!

Owners were wonderful to work with leading up to our arrival. I was surprised at how beautiful and comfortable the flat was when I arrived. We enjoyed the amazing views and perfect location, close to restaurants, activities, and train station. We walked everywhere and all the people of the village were incredibly kind and welcoming. Can't wait to visit North Berwick again and to stay in this lovely flat.

North Berwick is a delightful seaside town often referred to as the 'biarritz of the north' with something for everyone. The apartment is located in the old granary at the small harbour with uninterrupted views over the sea to the island of fidra and beyond. A stunning location it is possible to look out of the window onto the sailing boats as the water laps onto the base of the building.

The a ward winning scottish seabird centre is within 100 metres of the front door. Situated within the seabird centre is an educational centre,restaurant and gift shop. From here you can arrange boat trips to view the gannets and puffins on the bass rock and the other islands.

However if you are looking for something other than stunning beaches and sailing , there are arguably some of the best links golf courses within 10 minutes of the apartment including Muirfield which will host the 2013 open golf championships situated in nearby Gullane.

North Berwick has a vibrant high street with numerous cafes and restaurants catering for every taste whether it be traditional fish and chips, fresh North Berwick lobster, or Thai, Italian, Chinese or Indian. If you are looking for that special meal chez roux at nearby Greywalls was awarded restaurant of the year 2011.

Central Edinburgh is only a 40 minute car journey from North Berwick, or if you prefer to leave the car behind, trains leave every hour from the nearby station and run straight into the centre of the city( trains leave every hour from north berwick station). A visit to Edinburgh is highly recommended especially a visit to the Edinburgh festival. However if you prefer not to leave North Berwick, festival by the sea comes to you during August and is situated 150 meters from the apartment giving you the luxury of just wandering across to the venue.

An exciting new venture situated just outside Dunbar, 14km away, is to be up and running by summer 2012. Foxlake adventures aims to provide a wakeboarding lake with plans for mountain biking at a later date.

The location of this apartment gives endless possibilities to either indulge in golf, sailing, cycling, beach combing, fishing sight seeing, shopping or if you prefer to just relax in a stunningly peaceful location.
