LOVELY TRADITIONAL TRULLO PROPERTY LESS THAN 3 KM FROM THE TOWN OF OSTUNI

Ostuni Villa Rental Photos and Description

Traditional Trullo set in its own private garden sleeps up to 4 persons

This Trullo is actually made up of three of the traditional rounded houses, all attached to form a larger property, with a small extension for the kitchen.

There is total privacy in the extensive, terraced gardens down to the large olive grove. The garden is bordered by a dry stone wall and is ideal for relaxing while enjoying the extensive views of the countryside down to the Adriatic coast. It is furnished with table, chairs, pissa oven and a BBQ for dining al fresco in the warm evenings of Puglia. There is also access to the roof from where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

You enter this fantastic property into the kitchen. This is a comfortable room with a central wooden table for dining indoors. To one side of the room is the kitchen unit with fridge/freezer, small oven and gas hobs. The entrance door provides the room with light. There is a bathroom with shower off the kitchen.

Continuing through to the next room you find yourself in the first Trullo with it's characteristic whitewashed stone walls and rounded ceiling. This small room has a comfortable double sofa bed and a fireplace.

Passing under an arch you enter the next Trullo, which has an external door providing the entire property with plenty of light. There is a wardrobe and wooden table and chairs in this room.

From this central Trullo there is access to the third Trullo which houses the sleeping area. This room has a small double bed (140 cm x 190 cm) with cupboard space built into the walls.

An important characteristic of the Trullo is the lack of window and rounded effect which keeps the summer heat out, all light is cleverly provided by the strategically positioned doors. Through out the property there are no doors between the rooms, providing a open plan effect with curtains used between the various rooms. The bathroom has a door.

Excellent for couples in Spring, Summer or Autumn.

The nearest beach is 6 km away and there is a choice of sandy or rocky beaches.

There are mosquito screens on all windows/doors.

The property is surrounded by century old olive trees which are becoming part of a UNESCO heritage site.

Beach: 6 km away, both sandy and rocky beaches. There are beaches with facilities or free beaches.

Local Leisure: water park 'Acqua in', zoo, bike hire and cycling routes in the WWF oasis of Torre Guaceto, olive oil tasting and beaches.

Leisure: Caves of Castellana, medieval castles of Carovigno e Oria, archeological site Egnatia of Messapica-Romana times and several towns to visit such as Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglie and Alberobello.

Distances: Ostuni 2.5 km, Brindisi 36 km, Lecce 70 km, Bari 85 km, Naples 345 km, Rome 535 km.

Approach road, all paved.

Fantastic Trullo

Paradiso is lovely Trullo, restored into a large rental property. The main town of Ostuni is only a couple of miles away, where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Paradiso is completely private, with stunning views. The BBQ area was a real treat, a walk in BBQ with plenty of wood. The grounds are extensive, plenty of room for children to play. We visited so many interesting places, all within 30 minutes drive. The beaches are empty and gorgeous, the weather was warm even in September. We are most definitely heading back in 2014.

Belated Honeymoon in this delightful Trullo.

We booked a (belated) Honeymoon in Puglia, & were lucky enough to find this beautiful Trulli, just outside Ostuni.

The fact Trullis can only be found in this region of Italy gives it a real uniqueness. The location was perfect, as it felt secluded (it has plenty of private, surrounding land to walk around) but only a short drive into Ostuni, as well as being in a great area from which to discover other parts of Puglia. (which we did!)

The Trulli itself was just stunning! A cross between a fully (and tastefully) furnished cave, and a Fairy cottage! The interior was fascinating, whilst keeping well in with the historical age and type of cottage this was.

The pizza oven outside was not only used by us, but it provided the perfect evening focal point to sit outside, and enjoy the local food (ahem, and wine... a bottle of which was very kindly left for us by the owners on our arrival.)

I can't say enough about how absolutely lovely this place was.
Then again, it's not got a 50" Plasma screen, 24hr Internet access or remote controlled lighting and curtains... and nor should it. This is somewhere to escape from the modern world, to drift back in time, and experience a simpler, more rural way of Italian life.

Whether you enjoy warming yourself on the ample terrace areas outside, wandering amongst the Fig, almond and Olive trees, or just keeping cool in the quirky stone-walled rooms inside, BOTH are possible here, and are highly recommended!
The Mosquitoes on the other hand, can do one! But then again, it's Southern Italy in early Summer... so it's only to be expected... but do come prepared with some repellent!

The drive into Ostuni didn't take long, and once you get your head around opening times and where best to park (there are places, honest!), it provides a great place to visit for evening strolls, getting yourself lost amongst the narrow streets, as well as some truly great dining. (not to mention the Ice-Cream... unlike anything you can get anywhere else!)

Overall, our stay was perfect, we couldn't take enough photos of the Trulli, and had a hard job describing just how wonderful and quirky this place was to everyone back home. Words can't really do it justice, you'll HAVE to see for yourself!

Forget 5* Hotels surrounded by package holiday tourists... This was 10* of pure Italian relaxation... and a glimpse into another way of living.

Would recommend again and again!

The town of Ostuni is located just 2.5 km away from the property. Here you will find a host of bars and restaurants to enjoy the local atmosphere. The local people are very hospitable and will make you feel at home. Ostuni also has other amenities such as a pharmacy, doctor, banks and post office. This is a very characteristic medieval town which is famous for its white washed buildings.
