Enjoy the luxury of this recently renovated and redecorated private villa, warm breezes, with direct access to the Yal-Ku Lagoon, rooftop pool, and convenient access to the beaches in on Half Moon Bay and Akumal bay. Relax as this beautiful villa is waiting to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment for you and your family or guests. Designed to accommodate large groups, Casa Delfín provides expansive common areas and five private bedroom suites, each with its own air conditioning and bathroom. The ground floor features a large living area and a wrap-around veranda that opens to the path leading directly to the lagoon. The second floor has the living area, dining area, fully equipped kitchen and a veranda overlooking the lagoon. The third floor roof area provides a magnificent panoramic view of the lagoon and the ocean. It features a heated rooftop pool: perfect for toddlers or adults during the day. At night, turn off the lights and enjoy the stars in total privacy.

Yal Ku Lagoon: A true jewel of Mexico, Yal Ku Lagoon offers magnificent snorkeling for both the novice and experienced swimmer. Protected from the ocean waves, you can float along and see schools of sergeant fish, blue tangs, and others. Many varieties of parrot fish chomp on the algae on the rocks while angel fish and others swim about. You can also swim towards the inlet to the see: a shallow sandy area where you can sometimes see a turtle or a ray. Other great snorkeling and diving are available nearby including in caves and cenotes as well as the nearby coral reefs.

Travel insurance: For your protection, we recommend that you purchase travel insurance as protection for your vacation. Travel insurance can protect you from many losses you might otherwise incur because of unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injuries, and mandatory evacuations. Note that we can not generally provide refunds for cancellations or interrupted stays. We do recommend travel insurance so that you can be protected.

Refunds: We do not generally provide refunds. However, if the airport is closed by the authorities or if there is a mandatory evacuation, we carry forward your unused payments (pro-rated) toward a later reservation up to 18 months.

About David and Nancy Poor

We had been visiting Yal Ku Lagoon for almost 15 years and always loved staying in Akumal, especially directly on the lagoon. We traveled extensively and found ourselves saying, 'this is nice, but it isn't Akumal', or 'it isn't Yal Ku'. So when we found a villa for sale directly on the lagoon, we could not pass it up. After restoring Casa Delfin, we were relaxing in the rooftop pool at night wondering what we were going to do next. We both looked over at Casa Romero which was in terrible shape. Two weeks later we had an agreement to purchase it and renovations began only a few months later.

There are only a few properties with direct access to the lagoon and the entrance from Casa Delfin is probably the best of all. When one became available, we could not pass it up.

What makes this villa unique

If you have ever been to Akumal, you know it maintains the laid-back atmosphere that has gone from so many places. We have the feeling of belonging to a community. In addition to the magnificent snorkeling in Yal Ku, one of the things that we like the best is that Akumal is enjoyed by Mexicans as well as tourists. We have gotten to know the many local restaurants and enjoy eating out as being able to cook our own food and entertain friends and family.

If you already know Akumal, you know that is a family-friendly, quiet place where you can relax. You can hardly find any better place for snorkeling: both in Yal Ku Lagoon where you have your own private Palapa by the lagoon and direct entry, and along the reefs: rent a boat or just swim out to magnificent coral reefs teeming with fish. There are also several places to take Padi certified diving lessons. You will be diving among the fish on your very first day. With the fully equipped kitchen, you can choose to fix your own meals, hire your caretaker, Rene, to fix you some special dinners you are sure to remember, or go out to any of the area restaurants. Many of the restaurants are directly on the beaches of Half Moon bay and Akumal bay: you rarely need a reservation, you will always be welcomed, and there is never a dress code. You may also want to go to any of there nearby towns or attractions including Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Xelha, Xcarat, and more.

  • Sleep in comfort in your spacious bedroom suite with its own air conditioning and its own bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower. The ground floor has two bedroom suites: one with a queen size bed and one with two double beds. The main floor also has two bedroom suites: one with a king size bed and one with two double beds. The master bedroom is on the third floor and features a king size bed with a magnificent view overlooking the lagoon. Daily maid service is provided six days a week (Monday through Saturday). All linens and towels are provided.

The dining area has custom built furniture from the Yucatan with seating for 12 plus a high chair for toddlers. Place settings for up to 14. Enjoy the view overlooking the trees from the veranda or relax in the comfortable and spacious living area which includes a flat screen TV with satellite as well as WiFi access for your laptop and free (VOIP) telephone service to the UK, US, and most of Europe. We had an AMAZING stay at Casa Delfin. The house is gorgeous, the furnishings great, and very authentic Mexican.

The location could not be better. The lagoon is absolutely amazing for a morning snorkel, afternoon dip, or evening cool-down.

We spent hours sitting on the balcony overlooking the lagoon playing cards and sipping margaritas. The pool on the roof was perfect for an afternoon dip.

The town is great, and the local restaurants were perfect for our group. We just loved the Buena Vida. We were there two years ago and are still talking about how much we loved it!

And the caretakers were awesome. They took great care of the house, and were very helpful! I can't wait until my next visit!!

5 bed, 5 bath with direct access to beautiful yalku lagoon. Each bedroom has their own full bath, large bedrooms and common areas. House staff and service are excellent, (security patrols the grounds from dusk to dawn!) Perfect for a large group. Highly recommend this Villa. A very good bargain for the price, accomodations and service.
