Rushcliffe Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Self catering cottage near to all amenities and easy transport to Nottingham

My little cottage is 200 years old and would have once been the gardeners cottage, although sadly no garden but there is a south facing sunny terrace in the front to sit out. It is therefore full of character but quite SMALL with low doors and oak beamed ceilings. It is one of the original '2 up, 2 downs' from around 1800 and in recent years was modernised and a small toilet/shower room added. It has been decorated and furnished in keeping with the period complete with some antique furniture so not really suitable for small children. You do actually sense the history in the ambiance. The kitchen is just big enough for 4 to eat round the table and the living room cosy, especially when the log fire is blazing away in the grate but please note, we do not have big loungy sofas. We have period seating.. Situated in a no-thru road, literally just off the main centre and market square of Bingham, it is quiet but with easy access to Nottingham. Fine for 4 people (max )if not to tall!

YOUNG CHILDREN: Children of a responsible age (over around 7 years) are welcome . The antique style of furnishing means low items like fire tongues, small pictures, decorative lights etc. could easily be damaged and at the same time be dangerous to a small child. Babies who are not yet mobile would of course be fine, although we do not have cot facilities, high chairs or any other baby bits and pieces.

MEDIUM TERM LETS: If you are in between houses or working for maybe just 2 or 3 months in the area, it may be that we can give you a slightly preferential rate for a 'medium term ' stay. I regret I cannot possibly match the monthly rates of a 6 month let but I am sure you dont not want the committment of a 6 month contract either. We could talk about it.

FIBRE WIFI Super Fast : Available in the cottage!! , however Computers with internet/printers can also be found free of charge just 5 minutes away in the local library on an hourly basis.

stayed at rosehip cottage as a last minute booking - owner was very helpful in arranging this. Cottage is very nicely presented just 100m from the main market square where there are many pleasant pubs and restaurants as well as local supermarket chains to get supplies. Quiet location as it is on a street that is a dead end. Lacks a garden but does have a front terrace to sit out on. Bingham is a very nice village/small town, with excellent access to nottingham and all major routes. Caretaker was especially helpful and was contactable for any problems. Overall we would highly recommend this cottage to other guests.

Owner's Response: Well thanks a bunch for this review and I am so glad you had a great time. Thanks also for pointing out the close proximity of pubs, buses etc as I think these things are pretty high on the priority list of a village holiday stay.

Lovely and comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have spent a very enjoyable week in Rosehip cottage: it is located in a very quiet street (not a single noise at night!) , the neighbours are friendly and helpful.

The cottage is small but has everything you need; the brand new kitchen is perfect!!! (I specially appreciated to have a gas cooker and oven!) And we found all the basic items - and more - in the cupboards (no need to rush shopping!).

The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable.

We will definitely come back!

(We would also like to add a special thank you to Traci who made us most welcome!)

Owner's Response: So Happy you liked the new kitchen. We put a lot of thought into trying to re-create a Victorian feel in keeping with the period cottage. Yes indeed very quiet , amazingly so when its just off the main centre. Thanks for your kind words and of course we would love to see you back again.

This is a quintessentially English cottage situated on a quiet cul de sac only 2 minutes walk from the very pretty market square of this small town. There’s a cosy kitchen diner, a wealth of beams and a real log fire which can be lit on chilly evenings. On warmer days, you can sit and relax or eat al fresco on the small terrace at the front of the house. The cottage is furnished in olde worlde style (great for anyone interested in antiques & collectables) and has comfortable beds with lovely crisp linen. It has always been spotlessly clean.

There are a good selection of pubs, eating places, take-aways and supermarkets as well as a weekly market in the town square.

Bingham is conveniently situated for the historic town of Nottingham with it’s Robin Hood connections, Lincoln with it’s cobbled streets & famous cathedral, Newark with it’s riverside walks and the splendid Beauvoir Castle. For antique hunters like us, the huge showground antique fairs of Newark, Swinderby & Lincoln are a short drive away. We’ve stayed here in both the summer and winter whilst antique hunting and have enjoyed our stay every time. A little home from home ?

Owner's Response: Well thank you Antique hunters for some kind words and I am glad you found it so convenient for your searches. Thank you also for trying my French apartment with access to the antique fairs along the Cote D'azur. Look forward to your next visit!

Great little place as a base for my parents & sister visiting from Australia. They needed some where to stop as my place here in England wasn't big enough for 5 adults. This was perfect as was only down the road from my own place.

Everything went smoothly with transfering payment and getting the keys. Both the owner of the property and the lady who looks after it were lovely.

Perfect location for walking into Bingham to get little bits & pieces and my parents really liked the chinese restaurant.

Parking was good, we were always able to park on the street, which really helped.

I even stayed here myself with my parents & sister the night before my wedding and got ready here, the photographer got some lovely shots in the kitchen and lounge room.

My parents would love to stay here again when they next visit, they really liked it.

Cottage in Nottinghamshire

We had a great time using the cottage as a base for visiting. The bijou nature of the cottage meant that it was very warm in the depths of a cold English winter. The cottage was clean and well-maintained. The weather caused a couple of problems but these were dealt with swiftly.

The description of "village" could probably be upgraded to "small market town" which gave us access to more facilities than would be expected. However, it can definitely be referred to as "rural" with plenty of country walks available. It was also very easy to get into Nottingham by bus or train.

I would definitely recommend it to others. It is ideal for a couple who may want overnight guests.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed your stay and were warm and cosy despite frozen outdoor pipes. The weather was really dire and temperatures lower than seen for many a year so I think we fared luckier than most. I was there 3 weeks before you and we were nearly snowed in!

A wonderfully typical English village experience

We did all our booking online and it was smooth and time efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. On arrival we were greeted by Angie who gave us a great orientation not only to the mechanics in the cottage but some local information. It was very clean and every home comfort was accessible.

The cottage is in the centre of the village and within walking distance of the shops and market which has great local characters. The kids went and got their own fish and chips and we visited the sports centre. As we we were centrally placed we went off to Nottingham ( great shopping) and into the countryside.

This really is a typical English village with great character and the accommodation was quaint with great attention to detail to keep the rural feel. We would definitely recommend this for families with teenage kids,or couples who want to have a cozy space which is quiet, but close to all the amenities. Thank you Jane and Angie!

Owner's Response: Angie and I are delighted that the visit went so well and that you loved my little cottage as I do. The village and indeed my neighbours are a little 'blast from the past' in terms of gentility and charm. We love our time spent there, especially in the winter when we can light the log fire and toast crumpets!

Well Robin Hood country of course. Come and trace the history of Robin Hood - he robbed the rich to pay the poor (apparently!). The logs for the fireplace come from Nottingham Forest. There are many old villages and pubs all around the area .The evocative 11th century castle - erected by William the Conqueror and rebuilt by the Duke of Newcastle in the 18th century brings back the decades of history associated with Nottingham and surrounding lace market . Nottingham itself boasts the oldest inn in England. Modern Nottingham is thronging with nightlife and restaurants with some of the biggest national companies and Universities based there but there are also many outlying areas of natural beauty and protected bird life.

The great city of Nottingham should not be missed and offers a litany of enthralling museums. Its modern name derives from an Anglo-Saxon chieftain called Snot - hence Snotingham!

Ski: There is a fake Snow Dome in Nottingham where you can indeed ski.

There are trains to Nottingham less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage and similarly express buses about every 20 minutes which take about 30 -40 minutes to the centre.

Small market town nestling in the countryside but only 20 mins drive to Nottingham and less to Newark. The old town of Lincoln can be reached to the North and Leicester to the South. If you wish to stray further afield you could reach the famous cobbled town of York or walk round the stunning architecture of Cambridge. in Many pretty villages around in which to walk or cycle and maybe a pub lunch. There are trains to the seaside or maybe you would like the caves in Derbyshire. In Bingham itself the local pubs do good food by big open fireplaces or visit one of the many restaurants. The market is on Thursdays and the leisure centre is always a good all weather alternative to a bike ride. Although we provide fibre wifi, the local library 5 minutes walk away will provide computers and printers FREE for an hour at a time with some ID, like a driving licence. You can book twice a day if you wsh
