Water from our well is both clean and delicious. Gas cooker, fridge, washing machine, Satellite TV, video/DVD player (inc. tapes/ and CD's), WiFi, radio/CD player, small library/selection of games, cards, local maps and info leaflets. Kayaks, bicycles, golf clubs, fishing rods available.
We enjoyed this delightful cottage for two weeks. The view is to die for and the hosts are very special people who made us feel very welcome and instantly at home.
The bed linen and towels were changed every four days. The cupboard had all the necessary bits and bobs such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc and the welcome pack was great with bread, butter, milk, juice, bacon eggs and sausages.
The beds are very comfy and the cottage is warm and welcoming with underfloor heating, there is a constant supply of hot water.
We took advantage of the two kayaks that were at our disposal a couple of times, it was fantastic to get close to the seals that frequent the rocks near to the shoreline in the bay.
We visited one or two local places such as the Bamboo park, Bantry and Glengarriff. The ancient forest at Glengarriff is amazing as is Gougane Barra and Gleninchaquin Park, both recommended by Kate and within easy driving distance. It's a good place to stay for visiting Mizen head and the Beara Peninsula both of which have splendid views. We highly recommend Casey's hotel in Glangarriff, the food is good and it's not too expensive. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to my friends and family, it is beautiful and very, very relaxing.
tout a ete parfait, des gens charmants, tres serviables, maison propre et tres bien située. Je recommande cette location, on n'est pas du tout déçu du voyage.
Beautiful waterside location at the top of the Bay with magnificent views and stunning scenery on both sides. Bantry town and Glengarriff village both within short drive and offer good variety of entertainment, food and drink. Visit Skibbereen and Schull on route to one of Europe's top sandy beaches at Barleycove. Hill walking, fishing, cycling, golf, (two courses within 5 minutes) kayaking and boat trips all available on site or nearby. The famous Garnish Island gardens are located in nearby Glengarriff harbour. Gougane Barra is a short drive away with beautiful scenery surrounding the lake (source of the River Lee). The small church and old abbey ruins are well worth a visit, with a walk through the forest afterwards before a refreshing drink in the wonderful hotel makes it a must during your stay. You can also kiss the 'stone' at the famous Blarney Castle near Cork city, or arrange a day out to Kenmare and then the beautiful lakes of Killarney in nearby Kerry. You won't be bored!
Golf: Ireland is famous for it's golf courses and there are plenty in the region to explore and play. We have two courses within a five minute drive, one being a nine hole scenic course and one a Christy O'Connor Jnr. designed championship course. There are also further courses within a half hour to an hours drive. We have three sets of clubs (one ladies) for use of our guests at no extra charge.
