Bowness & Windermere Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Self catering accommodation in heart of the Lake District

Crofton Cottage is a charming, family owned, period stone cottage in the heart of Bowness on Windermere.

An ideal base for exploring the southern lakes, the cottage is a short walk from the town centre and its restaurants and shops and the steamer pier on Lake Windermere.

This self-catering cottage sleeps up to 4 people and has 1 beautifully decorated double bedroom with built in wardrobes, television and DVD and 1 twin bedded bedroom with wardrobe and bedside cabinets. It has two lounges both with gas fire, televisions and DVD players, a well equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, freezer and fridge together with a separate dining area, and bathroom with power shower and bath.

Outside is a separate storeroom with tumble dryer and space for storing walking boots. The cottage has a small courtyard at the rear, which has seating for 4, and a BBQ for al fresco dining. Parking via parking permit which is free.

Suitability:
  • unsuitable for elderly or infirm
  • children welcome
  • wheelchair inaccessible
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed
Guestbook comments from the owner
Great cottage in the heart of Bowness. We really felt at home there and the facilities were second to none. We have always camped or had a B & B previously when visiting Cumbria. Will camp again (when weather permits) but never B & B as the value and freedom of your own little place is quintessential to engaging upon a very good time.

The property is very well maintained and as Principle Chef for the stay the pots and pans and other equipment were an absolute delight to work with. Top quality.

I would strongly recommend Crofton Cottage to anybody wanting a comfy base to explore the grandeur of the Lake District.

Excellent cottage, very clean and well maintained. Couldn't of asked for anything better. The cottage is in an ideal location with easy access to the surrounding areas, with pubs and restaurants within walking distance. I would highly recommend this cottage to family and friends and will be looking to book again in the near future. Thank you Kim you truly have a wonderful place.

First of all many thanks to David and Kim we had a fantastic Christmas and many thanks for the lovely christmas tree :)
The cottage is situated in a very quiet street with lots of resturants and coffee shops minutes wak away plus the cinema at the end of the street and also a fish foot spa retreat which we enjoyed very much.
The cottage was maintained to a very high standard and the owners had thought of everything we needed in the kitchen.
Beautiful cosy cottage hoping to book again would recommend 100% couldn't fault it at all.

CROFTON COTTAGE

This cottage met all the promises in the description and more. Although we'd stayed in Bowness B&B's many times, this was the first time we had stayed in a cottage. It was brilliant.
The cottage was spotless and the furnishings and facilities were of a very high standard. The two warm and comfy lounges with all the entertainment facilities were perfect on a rainy evening when we didn't feel like going out.
You're spoilt for places to eat in Bowness but I did cook sometimes and was amazed at how well the kitchen was equipped. There really was everything you could possibly need - and good quality pans!
It is right in the hub of Bowness but the street is very quiet. The cinema is at the end of the street where all the main shops are including a very convenient Co-op which opens early til late.
I have never bothered to write a review before but I was so impressed with this cottage. I definitely hope to rebook in the spring and would recommend it to anyone who likes comfort and value for money.

BEAUTIFUL WARM AND COSY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
A perfect place to stay in the Lakes. In easy reach of Windermere Lake and shops . No need to take your car out if you want a break from driving .
Croften Cottage is a very tidy and exceptionally clean home. Everything has been thought of for you even an outhouse to dry your walking boots after a lovely day exploring beautiful walks around The Lake District. Although we were very lucky with the weather so no wet boots !
If your heading for The Lakes then Croften Cottage is a must. You won't be disappointed .
Thank you Kim and David for sharing your holiday home .

HOME FROM HOME

We have just returned from a fabulous week in Bowness and we have a lot to thank this lovely cottage for. It is just as described here, very pretty and nicely furnished and very well equipped in terms of the washing machine and dryer, cookware etc and the heating kept us nice and cosy on the rainy days. The location is very handy too,if you want to go to the lake its only a few minutes walk downhill. For further afield there is a bus stop just at the end of the row of cottages (by the cinema) and you can hop on here for trips to Windermere, Ambleside etc. There is a taxi office located there too for a spin to the train station or elsewhere. We didn't have a car with us but a parking permit is provided with the cottage if you need it. . There are lots of nice restaurants and pubs around, we liked the Bowness Kitchen's veggie breakfast and lemon meringue and the Albert has a good lunch menu. The cross lakes experience to Hill Top and Hawkshead makes a lovely day out (booked though the cruise ticket office at the pier). Overall the cottage was a great base for us and a pleasure to come back to after our day. Kim was very helpful and organised so the booking, arrival and departure all went very smoothly. Highly recommended.

We loved your cottage, it was 1st class. Quality furnished and well equiped, you had thought of everything and we wanted for nothing.

Information on the surrounding area and the walks and maps you provided, proved to be really useful and we manged to fit in two of the walks during our break.

I would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to stay In Bowness on Windermere.

Hopefully we will return to Crofton Cottage very soon.
