Capo Vaticano Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Il Casale Di Capo Vaticano - Beautiful Apartments in a Fabulous Location
Tucked away in the Calabrian countryside with stunning panoramic views out to sea, Stromboli and the other Aeolian Islands and surrounding hills and vineyards, Il Casale is a small complex of only 10 apartments set within in its own private, gated landscaped gardens and only six minutes drive from the nearest beach. The apartments are in two blocks (five apartments in each) and with its own communal outdoor swimming pool it is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The pool is chlorine free and cleaned by a healthy UV water disinfection system which is extremely beneficial to those people suffering from respiratory problems and is also much kinder to the skin and eyes. I have two apartments for rent both of which enjoy fabulous sea views - a one bedroom ground floor apartment which sleeps 4 and a first floor two bedroom apartment which sleeps 6. Both apartments are tastefully furnished to a very high standard and fully equipped with everything you need to ensure you have a wonderful holiday.
SHOPPING: The food in this area of Calabria is amazing. Local fresh produce can be purchased direct from the farm just up the road from the Casale as well as the local bakers, butchers, fishmongers and mini markets in Ricadi and Spilinga. Ricadi is the home of the chipola (red onion) and many locals sell their produce at the side of roads.
There is a pharmacy in Ricadi and post office in both villages. The Vibo Shopping Centre is 15 minutes from the apartment in Vibo Valentia where there is a large Spar supermarket and department stores.
DAYS OUT: Tropea - 'The Pearl of Southern Italy';
Take a boat trip from Capo Vaticano or Tropea to Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands. The trip to see Stromboli erupt at night is awe inspiring;
Visit the shrine La Madonna della Fontana of Spilinga;
Pizzo - a beautiful medieval seaside town with its 15th century castle, Baroque church of St. George (1632) and the cave church of Piedigrotta. Pizza is also famous for its Tartufo ice cream;
Scilla - a beautiful fishing village on the Tyrrhenian coast with its 13th century castle;
Reggio Di Calabria - see the bronze statues at Riace in the Archaeological Museum;
Gerace for the splendid 12 century castle, cathedral and the Church of St Francis;
Stilo - visit the Cattolica, a Byzantine church;
Sicily - catch the ferry at Reggio Di Calabria;
Drive out to Aspromonte National Park an area of mountains and waterfalls;
RESTAURANTS: There are some very good local restaurants near to the apartment with typical Calabrian fayre. A must on your holiday is to sample the world famous Nduja, a soft, spicy hot, spreadable salami considered one of the most famous, if not the most famous, of typical calabrian foods and which is made in Spilinga. There are also numerous restaurants and pizzerias in Capo Vaticano. Tropea is a wonderful place for an evening out with lots of ristorantes and pizzerias in the maze of tiny cobbled streets and has a lovely vibrant atmosphere in the summer months. It is a wonderful place to visit during the daytime to sit and take a cappucino or gelati and just watch the world go by. Local taxis are available and contact numbers are available in the apartment.

Hi my name is Pam and I am married to Roy and have two children, Andrew and Emily. As a family we have had many holidays in different countries but fell in love with Calabria on a holiday to Tropea in 2007. In 2009 we purchased a holiday home at Il Casale Di Capo Vaticano. I believe that holidays are very important in our really busy lives and well deserved and endeavour to make sure that our guests have a wonderful holiday at Il Casale.
Without doubt we chose to buy at Il Casale because of the stunning location with fabulous views to Stromboli and accessibility to the Capo Vaticano coastline and Tropea. The apartments have wonderful uninterrupted views to the surrounding countryside and sea.
Il Casale Di Capo Vaticano is a gem. All who stay here love the beautiful surroundings and the peacefulness and yet within 15 minutes drive of the lovely cliff top town of Tropea. I still have to pinch myself when I open the shutters on a morning and look at at the awesome Stromboi out at sea. There really is no need to go out of an evening to eat. We have a farm next door that sells all kinds of fresh salad, fruit and vegetables and great local butchers and fishmongers. There is nothing better than sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine and having a bbq watching the sun set over Stromboli. We are very lucky to have a chlorine free swimming pool which has many health benefits especially for those with respiratory problems. Il Casale is a friendly place and our hope is that all who visit love it as much as we do.
