Why the Owner Chose Montespertoli:
My father bought this property in 1970. He worked as a sharecropper on a small farm cultivated with olive trees near the house, but in 1956 due to a large frozen many trees died and he and his family left the farm. He moved to Florence where he undertook various activities. In 1970 he was offered this property and he bought it. Now I think it was a great satisfaction for him because after 15 years of work had bought the house of the landowner for whom he worked. I lived in Florence, and every afternoon I was with my father at the villa and I remember that I was excited for all those rooms and those old furniture in the villa. I grew up here and this house is part of my life. I loved the property and now I am happy when guests enjoy their stay here. Because of its position every view from the villa in any direction is really fantastic. The villa is at the centre of the triangle Florence-Pisa and Sienna so in more than half an hour drive you can reach the most important towns in Tuscany. For who loves golf there are two colf clubs in the area.
A legend about the villa location
IIn the XVI century, where the villa is now located - enclosed by a circle of cypresses - lay the oratory of the nearby monastery of 'Le Calvane', which was dedicated to the Madonna of the snow and contained a painting of her. In 1709, by request of Cardinale Nicola Acciaioli - who later became papal candidate - the painting departed from the oratory by an ox-driven cart to be transported to the chapel of the Castle of Montegufoni. When the oxen arrived at the nearby Castle, disobeying the driver, they refused to stop and continued until they reached the Church of San Lorenzo where the painting was hung and where it remains today.
