Carrigacat is a welcoming, comfortable, warm 3 bedroom farmhouse with a 1 bedroom cottage & a games room in the barn. Ideal for a family holiday. It looks out towards Barleycove, a fabulous sandy beach & the Atlantic Ocean, which surrounds us on three sides.Mizen Head, Ireland’s most south westerly point, has a beautiful rugged landscape of accessible mountains, cliffs, sandy beaches, small rocky fields & friendly villages. The house is surrounded by rocky fields with abundant wild flowers and almost an acre of lawn edged with escallonia and fuchsia giving plenty of space for children to play. Although it is only 4 km from Goleen village, it seems to be in a world of its own at the end of its own road. Carrigacat is a traditional West Cork farmhouse with 2’ stone walls; restored, retaining much of its original character; it is simply furnished with all mod cons, 2 fitted kitchens, 1bath/2showers, 4 WC, orthopaedic beds, dining room, spacious lounge with open fire, SKY TV, internet.

Carricagat is ideal for families, extended families and groups of friends. There is a great feeling of space - very different from houses and apartments in the city. You can be yourself and not have to care what the neighbours think! Any amount of partying or children's play will be absorbed by the countryside. In the summer the terrace is ideal for barbeques while the garden is a large expanse of mown grass edged by fuchsia, escallonia, brambles, heather and furze ideal for games and hide and seek. Although Carrigacat seems in a world of its own a five minute trip in the car takes you down to the stunning Barleycove Beach, S tony Beach, Cockle Strand and Chimney Strand. Another 5 minutes takes you to the cosmopolitan village, Crookhaven or the village caught in time, Goleen. The Mizen peninsula has world class scenery with cliffs, sandy beaches and small villages. None more spectacular than Mizen Head with the outstanding visitor attraction, Mizen Head Signal Station.

Local facilities include Goleen 4 km with The Heron’s Cove B&B & Restaurant, PO, 4 pubs, butcher, two mini markets with daily papers, greengrocer, antique shop, Crookhaven 4km with 3 pubs, 2 restaurants & shops, Mizen Head Signal Station 4 km with a cafe & gift shop. OSKA Outlet. Schull 20 min (restaurants, shops), Ballydehob, Bantry 40 min Golf & Bantry House & Skibbereen 35 min. Golf and Heritage Centre are our local towns, but Sheep’s Head, Beara, Glengarriff, Kenmare 1 h, Killarney (1.5 h) and the Ring of Kerry are all within easy touring distance. Activities include rook pooling, crab fishing, surfing, body boarding, fishing from piers & beach, hill walks, water sports, mussel & cockle picking, touring, cycling, horse riding, whale watching, relaxing with a pint.
