Mars was originally a medieval fortified farmhouse that once belonged to the nearby castle 'La Fayat. Although in the past centuries much has changed, the traces of the past are still visible. Mars has been carefully restored by the family and despite the injection of luxury and comfort lost nothing of its rural feel.
In the yard, about one hectare, located next to the house two large barns, a ruin of the former bakery and a private lake. This huge carp lake with jetty and is fed by springs whose water is said to have drinkable. From the whole area look out over a valley where sheep graze and beyond Mars is surrounded by woods with walking trails.
Since 1994, Mars is in the possession of the family Kortekaas who enjoy peace, nature and beauty and appreciate and respect this.
Mars has only one neighbour: Armand Gaudi and he has the keys of Mars. In his house and yard time has stood still.
Mars is situated in the Haute Vienne, Limousin. The region, Limousin is an authentic rolling landscape with many clear resources, lakes and of course her world famous red-brown limousin cows. Furthermore, the region is well known for its unique Limoges porcelain. At ± 7 km, the village Coussac Bonneval with its impressive castle is open to visit.
Mars is located completely free, overlooking a valley with horses.
The marked roads and paths for walking and cycling are a real pleasure. It is also possible to rent horses in Chervix Châteaux at about 5 km away from Mars. In addition, the region offers lots of interesting cultural opportunities. A well-known route is the route of Richard the Lionheart, which leads along many ancient ruins and castles.
