Casa di Luisa is an elegant flat situated in down town Verona, a pretty Roman town celebrated by Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Casa di Luisa offers the convenience of a self-catering accommodation and the advantages of a location rich in culture, history and natural beauty. From Casa di Luisa visitors can comfortably explore the town centre and the surrounding beautiful hills. Lake Garda, the biggest in Italy, is also a short drive away. Verona is centrally located making it a convenient base to explore nearby cities like Venice or Milan on day trips. Several important events occur in the area, like the summer Opera season in Verona, held in the outstanding 2000-year-old Roman amphitheatre, or open air concerts and street performances.
Verona: Verona is one of the main tourist destinations in northern Italy, thanks to its artistic heritage, several annual fairs, shows, and operas, such as the lyrical season in the Arena, the ancient amphitheatre built by the Romans. The city has been awarded world heritage site status by UNESCO because of its urban structure and architecture. Its Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, was completed around 30 AD, and is the third largest in Italy, after Rome's Colosseum and the arena at Capua. In Roman times it could seat some 25,000 spectators in its 44 tiers of marble seats; the Arena is still used today (sitting approximately 15,000 people) for many music events, including opera, jazz, rock and classical music. There is also a variety of other Roman monuments to be found in the town, such as the Roman theatre of Verona, which hosts every June the 'Verona Jazz Festival' thanks to its perfect acoustics.
Lake Garda: Lake Garda is the biggest lake in Italy and is only a short drive from Casa di Luisa. The lake offers a variety of landscapes, from the southern beaches to steep mountain slopes in the North. Many possible activities include hiking, swimming, wind-surfing, sailing, etc.
Fabulous Verona for Epiphany - From the moment we left the train station we knew we were going to have an incredible stay in Verona. A massive tree in white lights greeted us on our drive to the apartment; so nice as Americans to see Christmas publicly celebrated with no remorse. Passing through the walled entrance to historic Verona and viewing The Arena, a smaller version of The Coliseum, brought images of Ancient Romans building and living life in this City. Luisa's apartment is exactly as described and viewed; a truly lovely spot for coming home to after sightseeing or just relaxing and reading a book while gazing at the River Adige. Luisa was most helpful with all our crazy questions throughout the week. Bring your money for shopping which is exceptional and definitely go across the river to dine; Redentore was delicious and affordable! There were so many restaurants we did not get to enjoy so we will have to return for another stay. We did 'dine in' on several occasions and the kitchen was appointed adequately; could use a sharp knife. Grocery stores are available but hidden; go down Via Roma and you will find Pam and several others. The Burning of the Witch for Epiphany was an amazing experience and one not planned for. Delicious gelato, cappuccinos at Cafes, superbly priced house wines in carafes, friendly Veronians; too many experiences to mention. We will most assuredly return.....Anne and Calvin
This is a superb apartment and the standard of service provided by its owner of exceptional.
It is conveniently located ... an easy bus ride from the railway station, and within walking distance of all the principal sites.
There is a minimarket at the end of the street, and a larger supermarket in via Fratelli Cairoli by the Ponte Nuovo ... both are closed on Sunday.
We are just about to leave this apt and have really enjoyed staying here. A pleasant welcome from Luisa, a great view of the river from the balcony and very close to the Arena, (10 mins) Lamberti Tower Piazza delle Erbe (5 mins) and beautiful piazzas to relax and people watch. The apartment was immaculate on arrival. Air conditioning in the main area helped as it was 34 deg when we arrived from 15 back home. Kitchen very small ..fine for making breakfast. Kettle would have been good for us tea in the morning types. Only fault would be that iron/microwave/toaster etc are two prong plugs but all sockets are 3 with only 1 3prong adaptor. Bit of a hassle for charging phones/iPad/toothbrush if you are also needing to use hair dryer or iron. An ironing board would have been useful to go with the iron. Wifi connection was great, no probs at all. Would recommend for mainly couples or singles. Oh and bathroom great, but maybe not for larger people as shower cubicle is quite narrow. All in all a great apartment for us and I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
My husband and I enjoyed four magical days in Verona, and a large part of the magic was staying in Luisa's lovely apartment on the river. The apartment is elegantly appointed with everything needed and lots of storage. Sunshine pours in through glass doors in living room and bedroom. The balcony overlooks the fast-flowing river and a flower garden below - perfect for breakfast or an afternoon glass of wine. The moon and lights sparkling on the river are breathtaking. Verona is beautifully preserved yet lively and modern. Amazing restaurants. Lots of shopping. Glorious churches. Museums and a spectacular castle. All within easy walk of the apartment. Luisa is charming and gracious and ready to lend assistance. Her special touches make this apartment really special. We cannot wait to return to Italy and Verona and stay at Luisa's apartment again. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful 4 day break in Verona. This traditional apartment is perfectly situated right on the river in the medieval part of Verona . We enjoyed breakfast watching the world go by. You are within walking distance of everything you'll need or want to visit. The amenities are all you need and comfortable. Luisa is gracious and helped sort out wifi problems by loaning us her own mobile for the duration of the stay. We have suggested a DVD player and English speaking TV channels as this was one area we missed. Totally recommend this apartment. You wont be disappointed. A real gem :)
Absolutely delighted that we decided on Luisa's apartment. It is exactly as described, extremely comfortable and welcoming with a great location and outlook. Loved Verona and most of the city's attractions are within walking distance. The public transport system is convenient with stops nearby but after a couple of days Verona becomes very easy to navigate and getting back to Via Filippini was simple. The city is a great base with trips to Venice, Garda, and Milan easily fitted in. Romeo and Juliette house is tacky and basically empty but is included in the excellent Verona Card so no extra cost involved in checking it out. Regretted buying our cards middle of the afternoon - practically lost 1 day so morning is best! We ate very well and found the recommendations Luisa provided to be spot on. Luisa is a lovely person to deal with and you will not be disappointed with Casa di Luisa
Luisa met us at the apartment late in the day and gave us a good introduction to how things worked and generously provided us with food for our breakfast the following morning. The apartment was clean and beautifully presented and had all we required for a wonderful 6 day stay. The location was ideal for an easy walk to all attractions with a bus stop very close by.
Verona and the surrounding area had so much to offer - some of our favourite things were:
* attending Carmen at the Arena
* the view from the Lamberti tower
* visits to the four historical churches
* wandering the Verona back streets away from the crowds
* a visit to Malcesine (especially the ride on the gondola)
* a day in Sirmione
The only day we didn't enjoy as much was a trip to Padova - a disappointment after Verona!
Thank you, Luisa, for sharing such a lovely place for visitors.
