LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. This charming beachfront house is located on one of the largest and most beautiful beaches the North Shore of Oahu has to offer. Relax and enjoy the sun, surf and sand that is right under your toes. Whether you are ready to surf, snorkel, hunt for shells, or maybe just curl up on the lanai and read or watch the amazing sun set, this beach house is the place for you.
Covered garage and private automatic gated entrance to home. Hardwood floors, stainless steel kitchen appliances, Sub Zero fridge and Sub Zero wine Fridge, granite counter tops, remodeled bathrooms, comfortable furniture, quality beds. New, 40' Sony plasma TV with Denon home theatre system in living room. Gas grill on deck. Kitchen is stocked with everything you will need to have a wonderful stay.
Upon entering the house we were really impressed - it was super clean and tidy, private and secure, and had a great spot along a truly stunning beach. It was only moments to Pipeline and Ted's Bakery in one direction, and food trucks, Foodland and Haleiwa Town in the other. (Haleiwa being a 10-15 min drive - Banzai Sushi Bar a must!) The beds were comfy and linen and towels and beach chairs clearly updated since a previous review. Kitchen was really well equipped and the BBQ got a good workout during our stay. We had an issue with the TV at one point which was quickly responded to with a personal visit - the entertainment system does seem over complicated though. Another bike or two would have been good to cater for our party of five - additional bikes can be hired just down the road though. We enjoyed many sunset drinks on the massive balcony. It's a pity you can't see the break from the outdoor lounge though, we became quite envious of the surrounding houses elevated balconies. Can't complain too much though - it wasn't hard to take a chair down onto the beach! All in all we had a great and relaxing stay and saw some massive surf (too dangerous for swimming but spectacular to watch). It was pricey but properties at Christmas were hard to come by - particularly right on the beach. I loved the North Shore and I'll be back.
An amazing beach house on my favorite beach on Oahu. The layout of the house takes full advantage of the spectacular views that the beachfront location affords, and the two adult bedrooms were quiet and comfortable as the house is situated farther from Kam Highway than many rentals that I've encountered. The lanai is superb. The roof overhang and a large umbrella provided shelter from island rains and we were able to enjoy an afternoon shower without moving inside. The kitchen is large and provides all the necessary gadgets and kitchenware to make cooking during vacation a treat. Master bedroom and bath is elegant. Nice snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards, and cruiser bikes are easy to access and in good condition.
This is nicely laid out property right on the beach along the Banzai Pipeline with plenty of restaurants, food trucks and supermarkets nearby. Cool neighborhood but surf was high and dangerous during Xmas 2013-14, with Red Flag warnings and rescues nearly every day. This is Mother Nature, of course, so hopefully she'll be kinder during your visit.
Location aside, we felt that there was a BIG DISCONNECT with our experience and the price charged for the property. While you never want a rental so perfect that you're worried about ruining something, this is long overdue for a fluff.
For the money, we've enjoyed much nicer vacation rentals.
The owners have tons of stuff crammed into locked closets so there's not a single dress or cabinet where we could umpack clothes, forcing us to live right out of our suitcases for a week.
Linens all old, frayed and musty. Bed pillows were heavily used, cheap and thin. No headboards to rest against --accept for the wall -- when reading or watching TV in bed. Beach Towels all smelly old and small. A few beach chairs are provided but were rusted and all missing parts.
Kitchen equipment OK; Faucet in Kitchen annoyingly loose. In the land of pina coladas why offer a blender without top? BBQ grill is disgusting and hasn't been cleared of old grease forever. Fuel tank barely filled with enough gas for one meal.
Paint needed both inside and out; in some cases rotting deck railings or floorboards need replacement. We had one monster storm and gutters poured on us by front door and all over the deck. Sliding Doors need the full body weight of an adult to open/close.
Slipcovers and pillows on all indoor/outdoor couches are faded and worn; old lampshades are frayed or cracking. Light bulbs burned out or just plain dim, making reading difficult.
AV system good but a little complex to operate; Internet service/cable crashed all the time. Deck speakers rusted out so no music for your cocktails. AC/Ventilation units all OK; ocean view obscured by overgrown foliage; Bicycles all under-filled or just flat.
While it doesn't help us one bit, the owner assures us he is addressing all of these issues. Isn't that great? Hopefully you'll be happier with the value you get for your hard-earned vacation dollars.
We can sum it up in one word: "MEH!"
Great house, great location no complaints!! I just wished we could have stayed longer. Everything was nearby...5 min to Waimea Falls, Pipeline, Sharks Cove, Foodland (local grocer). 15 min to Haleiwa, Turtle Bay. The house had most everything we needed and was very comfortable and private. Will come again.
This house is truly 'paradise'. The location to the beach is unmatched. We also referred to it as the "Pottery Barn" house because of how it is furnished. It feels comfortable without being too personal to the owners - you feel as if you have rented a suite on the beach from a hotel. Every memory we have here is positive.
I lived in Hawaii for 16 years and moved to Kanas City in 2000. I wanted to take my family on vacation and go to Hawaii and not be like the millions of people who go to Waikiki and not enjoy the real Hawaii.
While i was extremely nervous about renting a house from a person and company that i have never heard of, I can say that i was so very pleased with the way Matt Delaney took care of us. This house had everything we needed. It was just as though we walked into our home. the only thing we needed to prbing, and I mean only thing, was food. the house had all of the condiments and spices we need to prepare our meals every day.
The beaches in Hawaii are all 100% public access, however this house is located on a beach that is just about as private as you can get. We went to the beach everyday and I would say that there were less than 20 people(including us) in a span of the a beach over a mile.
I asked my family the morning before we left if “anyone had any regrets or if they felt like we could have done anything differently on the trip to make their stay more enjoyable?”.
The answer was “nothing, everything was perfect!”
Maholo nui loa Matt!
