Ideal for one couple, two couples or a family of four, it has all the amenities you need for an unforgettable vacation. Our permanent home is Washington DC but we love escaping to Kauai, especially in the winter. After visiting Kauai several times in the 1980's and falling in love with the north shore, we purchased our house in 1990, 2 years before hurricane Iniki destroyed many homes on Kauai, ours included. By 1995 it was rebuilt as a totally different (and oh so much better) house. It's worth the long trip from DC! We love to snorkel, bike, kayak, walk, and just enjoy a good book while sitting under a palm tree at the beach. You will too!

Kathy Chamberlain purchased this house in 1990

The north shore of Kauai is the most beautiful place in the world. We love Princeville because it is on a bluff overlooking the ocean-- flooding will never be a problem! The Hanalei Bay Villas are perfectly situated for the best ocean, bay and mountain views on the north shore. We bought Hanalei Bay Villa 25 for its views and easy access to beaches. We can kayak, snorkel, swim, bicycle, walk the beaches, or just read books and nap on the beach all very conveniently from our house.

Ours is a stand-alone house, so renters benefit from the privacy of having a house to themselves. It is close (but not TOO close) to the luxurious St Regis Princeville Hotel, just a 5-minute walk. Our house is not on poles like most Hanalei Bay Villas, which means we can walk out the lower lanai into the back yard for easy access to the herb garden and tropical fruit trees. There is whale-watching from the front door (Jan-April), frequent rainbows over the ocean, easy sunset watching from the bluff in front of the house. Guests often comment on how comfortable, well-equipped and nicely decorated our house is.

Wonderful Place

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights and felt comfortable the minute we came in the door. The view from the kitchen window and the lanai was awesome. Kathy was very helpful with suggestions on things to see and do. This was a very nice home away from home!

Slice of Paradise

We stayed two weeks at this property. This villa is well equipped with everything from snorkel gear to an herb garden. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a meal, save the left overs, chop your fresh fruit with nice knives and an out of this world Kitchen Aid blender for smoothies! Oh, and I left out a view that makes you want to do the dishes so you can look out the window. Bathroom towels, sheets for beds, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo were all available if you need them. Everything you need for the beach is available for your use. The list goes on and on what is available for your use at this villa.
On the rainy days and evenings we were very comfortable watching the DVDs of movies filmed in Kauai, cable TV, Internet and free phone to call family back home.
There is a binder in the villa with local tips from the owner's that we found extremely helpful. Like, where to buy shrimp!! We enjoyed watching birds in the trees out back, the sunsets just moments away and reading the guide books for snorkeling, bird watching, etc. We even met the author of the Birds of Kauai field guide while hiking the Alakai Swamp Trail. Wouldn't have known him if the field guide wasn't in the villa.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The villa exceeded our expectations and they were set pretty high by the website.

Hard to leave

  • 4 of 5
What a memorable time on Kauai and the biggest part of it was this condo! They had me at "herb garden" but I was even more thrilled to find a well-equipped kitchen - including food processor! Most of our meals were enjoyed in the condo - a stop at the Costco in Lihue on arrival, plus a trip to the local Foodland were all we needed. We were there only five nights and, because of the time zone difference, I was awake to see every sunrise - but what a sight to see with palm trees in the foreground. I'm not sure which view is better - the one out the front door or the one over the kitchen sink. Our walk to the St. Regis beach was beautiful; the sunsets right across the street were gorgeous; the breezes that flowed through the house were tropical; the rain storms were refreshing; the noise of the chickens in the morning was entertaining. Kathy was very responsive and hospitable and the owner's care is evident. While the trip to see Waimea Canyon was long, it was worth the trip (better than the Grand Canyon)! We loved the food at Pono Market in Kapa'a and the cocktails at BarAcuda in Hanalei. I would recommend this rental for anyone seeking relaxation on the beautiful North Shore of the awe-inspiring island of Kauai. It was hard to leave the condo, even harder to board the plane.

Wonderful home and even better in person

  • 5 of 5
Aloha!
Arrived on Feb 21st and spent 4 days at the villa. Let me start by saying that the villa is more beautiful than the pictures posted. All furniture and fixtures are top quality with flat screen tv's, comfortable beds, wonderful artwork/island decorations etc.... You can tell a lot of time was put into this home to make it as warm and comforting as we found it..... The kitchen is great for home cooked meals and the BBQ grill on the deck was great to have as well.
The location was phenomenal ! The beautiful mountains right out your windows and the ocean a few steps from the front door. The Regis hotel was a short walk away which has a wonderful beach and pool ( pool is for guests only, but we snuck in everyday and had no problems :) ) The town of Princeville is lovely as well as the small surrounding towns with plenty of shopping and wonderful restaurants. Our favorite nighttime spot was the St Regis bar which is open to the public and has stunning views of the beach and mountains. The Kona Gold (macadamia nut liquor) might be the best drink I've ever tasted, though it is pricey!
In regards to the owners, I only dealt with Kathy who was great! She was prompt in her emails/phone calls, updated us regularly on what to expect from our stay and gave us a great welcome package email of things to do in the area. The home also includes all the Kauai guidebooks you would need. Kathy also was very gracious and accommodating to a last minute change to our plans that I think most owners would be less accommodating/open too.

All in all a truly great stay at this villa. We got ALOT of rain while we were there but it was so sporadic that it didn't really affect our stay that much. It was the rainy season so it was expected. In any event if your looking for a vacation home that feels like your own and some very gratuitous hosts, then this is your place! Can't wait to go back some day! Mahalo!

Perfect place on the most beautiful island

  • 5 of 5
Hanalei Bay Villa #25 was the perfect place from which to enjoy all that Kauai has to offer plus have all the comforts of home. We came to Kauai to celebrate my retirement, and lucked into this vacation rental that more than met our needs. We enjoy cooking our own food rather than eating out, so we were particularly impressed with how well equipped the kitchen was, including an herb garden in the back yard. We couldn’t get enough of the wonderful fresh fish, Kauai farm-raised shrimp, and locally grown fruits and vegetables that Kauai has to offer. The kitchen conveniences, including the electric grill, made it possible for us to enjoy these delicious treats using many different recipes. We were impressed with the comfort, decorations, and all the extra conveniences the owner provided, including beach towels, chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and binoculars, as well as plenty of household supplies such as soap and paper towels. The place is spotless and well-maintained. With a villa like this—a small 2-story house all to ourselves—what more could we ask for in a vacation rental on the most beautiful of the Hawaiian islands? This villa was a real find, and we’ll be back.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed our place and availed yourself of the kitchen to prepare the wonderful foods of Kauai. Really glad you discovered Kauai shrimp, one of the locally produced gastronomical delights that many visitors overlook. Please come back!
