Spacious Luxury Tuscan Villa with pool and great views in Lucca

The house, the setting, and the hospitality were perfect! We had 10 family members, so we had a full house. It was a beautiful home with excellent accomodations. The photographs do not do it justice. Claudia and her staff are very attentive and even brought us a bottle of their home-made olive oil. It was amazing! They checked on us daily to ensure our stay at their historic home was a trip of a lifetime, and it was. The view, the view is spectacular (I have a large photo of the view on my desk at work and stare at it each day). The house is situated atop a hill just north of Lucca. The view to the south-southeast was a stunning Tuscan valley complete with a church and bell tower with mountains as a backdrop. Our favorite room was the outdoor dinning area. We never went out to eat dinner. We cooked in the wonderful kitchen and ate every breakfast and dinner soaking up that view and enjoying time with family. The walled city of Lucca is only a few miles away and it was one of our favorite places in all of Italy. From the great location we were able to vist Cinque Terre (do not miss this unique area), Florence, Pisa, and of course Lucca (several times). However, the best part of our trip was this wonderful old house with all the amenities. We did not want to leave. Thank you Claudia!

How do you write a review of Paradise? A challenge to be sure, but we will try. We traveled to the lovely city of Lucca this summer and were lucky enough to stay at Sonia’s and Claudia’s villa. From the moment we met them we felt completely welcomed and at home. Our accomodation suited our needs perfectly and had every amenity that my husband and I and my father (who is older with some mobility restrictions) could have hoped for. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful sunny garden complete with an outdoor area for dining and relaxing, a perfect spot to read and to listen to the birds. The villa itself is bright, charming, tidy, comfortable, and has a very well-equipped kitchen. Claudia showed us an excellent grocery store within a couple of minutes by car, where we were able to stock up on delicious bread, provolone, prosciutto, etc. The villa is within easy distance of the beaches of Versilia (hope I spell that right) and in a very short distance from the town centre of Lucca.
But it is Sonja and Claudia themselves who were the highlight of our visit. They embody hospitality. From the moment we stepped off the car and the girls met us at the villa, we knew we were in excellent hands. Sonia is a terrific tour guide, enthusiastic to help visitors see the beauty of Lucca as she knows it. She grew up there, and she obviously loves her hometown and the surrounding region. She’s a wealth of information, whether on local and national history, a scenic walk or or drive or bike ride, or a restaurant suggestion for dinner. An example of her kindness: upon meeting my dad she realized that the hilly topography of the area would prove tricky for him to navigate, so she offered us rides to and from the groceries and points of interest. We cannot imagine a more beautiful spot to stay in the Lucca region, and Claudia and Sonia are very special hosts indeed.

This 300 year old villa is a TOTAL experience. I completely agree with the other reviews. It is in an indescribably beautiful setting, with magnificent views from bedroom windows and two terraces. Our group spent two weeks in this fantasy land. With 5 bedrooms and 5 baths, it easily accommodated 10 adults. The top floor has 2 large bedrooms, each with attached baths, plus sitting room with piano. The 2nd floor has 1 large bedroom with sitting area and terrace. The 5th bedroom (on 2nd floor) has a bath. 5th bath is on the 1st floor, and has a shower. Although the dining room was lovely, we never used it for anything but storage for cameras, books, maps. The outside terrace was so fantastic we gathered either there or by the pool. What made the villa extra special was Claudia. Her home is close enough to the villa for her to be very helpful (which she was when one of our group was injured in a vespa accident), but she was never intrusive. In fact, we were always delighted when she stopped by to check in with us, and wanted her to stay longer than she did. Gacious, helpful, and fascinating, Claudia enhanced the ambiance of the place. She described the villa as having soul...and she does too. None of us were aware that Amid was part of the deal. What a wonderful surprise! Amid lives in a building on the edge of the property. He took care of everything: making beds, loading the dishwasher, sweeping the floors, lighting the charcoal grill, fixing anything that needed fixing, showing us how to use the washer. He'd come up every morning, asking us if everything was okay ("tutto bene?). He also supplied us with fresh fruit from the gardens, plus ourselves to the ripe lemons from the lemon trees on the terrace. It made the lemon piccata wonderful. For two weeks, we lived as if we were rich and famous. Excellent wifi, windows are large, with cross ventilation which was delightful. The villa is on a hill, but roads are large. Claudia can give name of taxi company, but car is best. Stop down the hill at the agritourism place to buy vegetables, olive oil & wine. Excellent neighborhood restaurants. Memorable, wonderful place.
