Hi, my name is Kim, my husband Mark and i have 3 daughters, now all grown up. We have had many wonderful times together at the villa. We live and work, running a tv production company in Cardiff, its a very busy life and the peaceful tranquility offered by the villa has been a life safer at times.
We had never intended renting the villa, hence its cream sofas!
But as time off work is scarce for us, it seemed such a sin to leave that beautiful house empty, we started renting in March 2011 and it has been very successful, the guest book is full of very positive reviews and its really uplifting when we arrive there to read them.
There are many reasons we chose this property ,construction had just begun when we bought it so we worked together with the builder to acheive all our objectives. As we have 3 daughters and thinking ahead, we wanted a private space for each of us, plenty of bathrooms..of course, and a large comunal space,Its light and spacious accomodation means we never feel claustropohbic and enjoy 'meeting' on the terrace for dinner. There is also plenty of land around the villa, the orchards are really well tended by Paco who sells the fruit to market each year. We are happy that he nurtures the trees and the garden so lovingly and continues to have an income.
The villa and its many terraces are nestled into what is now a beautiful mature garden, its completely private and not overlooked.
The views from the terrace is absolutely spectacular, watching the sun go down sipping a glass of local rioja is the BEST!
The villa is in a part of Spain that is still very Spanish, the locals are friendly, the food , wine and tapas is still inexpensive and delicious. The beaches are beautiful, and a long fish lunch on the beach is a treat, though we often find it difficult to drag ourselves from the comfort of the villa.
One the best discoveries was the waterfalls beyond otivar on the old road to Granada. It takes about 30 minutes to drive there and it like a little paradise, with its rope bridge, rocks to jump of and crystal clear lagoons to bathe in. Surrounded by pink flowering shrubs, we have spent many long days there with a picnic.
It is well worth continuing along the old road to granada and visiting the reservoirs. Not least because the drive is beautiful.
The reservoirs are sparking turquoise clear with white limestone beneath. Look out for them as you 'Fly in'.
set between the white washed andalucian villages of Jete, Otivar and Itrabo, just 20 minutes from the coast, it really is a haven of tranquillity, especially in august when the coast is buzzing. The air is slightly cooler, so clean, the sky at night is like a sparkling black velvet cloth due to the lack of light pollution.
There is often a 'fiesta' in one of the local villages, it seems they will find any excuse. We always feel welcome at these events and it really is a spanish expereience not to be missed. They Really know how to party!
A really unique benefit to our villa comes in the form of
Mike and Jenny.
They host the villa, they are kind , helpful, and know the area extremely well, having lived locally for 6 years.
But best of all they have a catering service which is fantastic, they will make buffets, full dinners , food for your freezer, even do your shopping before you arrive!
So if you want to 'dine out ' at home, believe me this is the perfect answer!
