A wonderful location and a perfect place to call home for our holidays in Barbados
My husband and I have stayed here last four years over Christmas and New Year and they have been some of the most relaxing and peaceful holidays we have experienced! Cooking and eating the local food is an adventure, with such beautiful fish available from the Oistins fish market, and delicious fresh local vegetables, salads, fruits delivered to the door by Teresa who comes by every couple of days, and every manner of Bajan delicacy on our doorstep in the markets at Oistins and Bridgetown.
This rental has everything that we need to make most of our food, and to host our local friends for drinks and dinners on the lovely terrace with a most beautiful view of the ocean. The china, crystal and cookware are all excellent quality and the cupboard comes stocked with some of the essentials. The unit is spacious for two, with comfy sofa and chairs to read, a table to work on, and a outdoor furniture for sunning on the terrace. We are lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves in the large and comfortable bed, and wake with the sun.
Local swimming is protected and safe, and we are delighted to watch the surfers, wind and kite surfers performing their acrobatic feats out in the bay. The local palms, flowers and gardens are delightful, and the pool is crystal clear and immaculately clean. Proximity to the airport is an added plus. And Surf View makes an ideal base to explore the Island, particularly the scenic east coast and Scotland district, and the interior gardens at Andromeda, Hunts, and the Flower Forest, which are our favourite locales for walking and experiencing the local history, geography, and seeing colourful Island flora and fauna. Another artist friend and I spend time drawing and painting when we are here, and we never tire of local views and subjects.
The owners are very helpful and make sure that their guests are well taken care of, and they are readily available (by email), as are other owners (if they are onsite), to help with local information and advice as needed. After your first day you will fall into the rhythm of daily life and feel as if you live there.
Last year we arranged to get married in Barbados, and celebrated our wedding at Sunbury House. We invited our family and local friends to join us for the event, and were able to base ourselves here for our celebrations and honeymoon -- the other residents made a little party for us, and we now feel like honorary citizens of the Island!
