Merida is the archaeological site from Roman times most complete in Spain and one of the largest in the world. Declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, are among other monuments Theatre, which hosts the festival each summer classical theater, the amphitheater, the circus, the bridge, one of the longest in the world at that time, the aqueducts of The Miracles and St. Lazarus, the Temple of Diana, or the dams of Proserpina and Cornalvo, the latter in the natural park of the same name. Must visit the National Museum of Roman Art, a magnificent building designed by Rafael Moneo that exposes a huge collection in a very educational tour. In its basement are kept visible archaeological remains that were found on the site. A little over half an hour from home can also visit the old part of Caceres, a magnificent collection of medieval and Renaissance Heritage of Humanity, Badajoz, or the Portuguese town of Elvas.
