The properties consist of a two double bedroom villa and an apartment which are separated by a small private courtyard. This can be rented as a three, four or five bedroom, sleeping from 6 - 10 people. The bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans, air-conditioning, central heating and have large fitted wardrobes. The bathrooms are beautifully tiled with luxury fitted showers, heated towel rails and radiators. Kitchens: Fully fitted, modern and very well equipped, with fridge/freezers, electric ovens with grills, gas and electric hobs, washing machine, dishwashers and microwaves. Living Rooms: Comfortably furnished. Ceiling fans, Satellite TVs, video/DVD recorders, wood burning stove (in villa) and radiators. Enjoy the dramatic views of the Contraviesa mountains from the living rooms, terrace and balcony. Outside Area: There are several outside eating and lounging area.

Nigel and I (Zoe) met in 1998 and realised that we both had a desire to live in the sun. We started looking for our dream place in the year 2000. The minute we discovered this beautiful area of Spain, we knew that this is where we wanted to be. We bought the property in 2003 and spent the next 3 years renovating it to bring it up to date. We wanted to make sure that it was updated to a high level of comfort. We have been pleased with the comments people have given us about how much they have enjoyed the property.

The location and views were what attracted us to the property! We knew that we would be renovating any property that we bought, so our main concern was the views and the location. Just two and a half kilometres from the market town of Origva and with spectacular views of the mountains, we find that everyone who stays here loves it. Some of the best walking areas of Europe are all around. It is so easy to access so many places from here - the beach 30 mins drive and the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada just over an hours drive away. It is so easy to access motorways to visit Granada, the coast, Cordoba and Sevilla. The mountain villages are within easy reach - the property ideally located for most things.

The house is surrounded by olive groves, orange and lemon trees, avacado and pomigranate trees. The water system that the Moors introduced still runs down from the Sierra Nevada mountains to this day, which means the area is unusually green for Spain. We had a blank canvass when we bought this house so after visiting Granada and Morocco many times, we gave it the style that is so right for this area - the last place the Moors lived before returning back to Morocco. You will see some of the features that we have put in, on the website, but you will see many more when you visit the house. We brought many pieces of furniture from Morocco including a fountain which is in the small courtyard.

Total Relaxation!

Our holiday at Villa Castano was fantastic - it is the perfect destination for combining relaxation by the pool in unbelievably tranquil surroundings, with more energetic activities such as cyclying, walking and, in the winter, skiing (less than an hour's drive to the Sierra Nevada). The excellent quality of accommodation made our stay so comfortable, especially the home comfortrs such as air-con (which our baby boy hugely appreciated!), Sky TV and washing machine/dishwasher (which meant we could really make the most of our time there without wasting time cleaning, etc!). Will definitely return!!

So peaceful and just what I needed

We very much enjoyed our 2nd visit to Zoe and Nigel properties in Spain.
Firstly we once again spent a week in their beautiful house in the quiet little Spanish village of Maro, which we enjoyed enormously. We were then lucky enough to spend a week in their new house in the countryside between Nerja and Frigiliana. Spectacular views of Nerja and the sea with the bonus of superb panoramic mountain views as well. As the house is their family home and only rarely rented out we were lucky enough to be the first people to stay there. We then spent our third week, just 50 minutes drive away, in their house in Orgiva. Again another family home, beautifully decorated and so peaceful with stunning views.




Well done Nigel and Zoe, you have created 3 places all completely different but with the same quality and ambience. You have managed to create something for everyone.

Most wantet holiday stay

This property is succesfully and very delicately renovatet in at super high quality style and with sens for details. The garden/pool is beautifully kept with lots of flowers, fruit trees and a god combination of shade/sun options.
Its outside Orgiva which meens quiet location and was just what we were looking for. The distance to entertainment is fine to reach by car whether you are looking for Family events or adult.

we have allready spoken very god about this Villa to our friends and it is on our list to visit Again.

Cortijo el Castano

My family and I just spent 1 week with friends at the Cortijo and had a excellent time. We had booked the villa and the apartment which was great for 9 people.
The place is really comfortable with everything that you might need. The bedrooms have AC if needed. The pool is great and the boys big and small had fun playing ping pong and petanque. thank you Nigel and Zoe.

Cortijo El Castano

We have just returned from a relaxing weeks stay at Cortijo El Castano, 8 of us in total, having booked both the villa and apartment. Both properties are clean, modern and well fitted, yet still in keeping with the Moorish style and are in a beautiful setting. The area is stunning, this was our second visit to Orgiva, but the first time at the villa. Zoe and Nigel are excellent hosts, but give you privacy at the same time. The pool is so welcoming and the gardens are plenty big enough for a large party. There is table tennis and boules if you feel energetic and plenty of walks. I recommend a trip up to the mountain villages as they are well worth a visit despite the sometimes hairy drive! We ate at Alma Alpujarrena restaurant a couple of times and the food and service was excellent and the staff were friendly. A massive thank you to Zoe and Nigel for making our stay so perfect and for giving us the opportunity to stay in their beautiful villa/apartment and I highly recommend a stay there, you won't be disappointed.

Whilst not being a large town Orgiva, capital of the Alpujarras holds a weekly market in the town. There are many tapas bars, restaurants and small supermarkets. There are also 2 health food shops and a herbalist pharmacy. Enjoying many fiestas throughout the year, this is very much a Spanish town.

Lanjaron is a spa town, where the Spanish have enjoyed spa treatments for over 100 years. The minerals found in the different waters are said to be an aid for any number of ailments. Visit the fascinating city of Granada with its spectacular Alhambra Palace, and the old Moorish quarters of the Albaicin. Shop in the town centre or just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the street restaurants and cafés in this ancient student city.

Just 35 mins away are the relaxing beaches of the Costa Tropical. The white villages built by the Moors have a charm and style unique to this area. Spend the day visiting different villages and discovering some of the local crafts, still practiced in the region.
