Seldom found in vacation rentals, this property has 800 feet of property on the shore of Torch Lake surrounded by 25 acres of woods and fields, providing a setting ideally suited for families or small groups.
On the lake frontage are two fully-equipped rental houses, the Lodge and the Bungalow, offering comfortable accommodations in a beautiful natural setting. The houses are separated by wooded areas and do not share side-yards, driveways, docks or any facilities.
The charming, turn-of-the-century Lodge has five bedrooms, two baths, a full width glassed and screened-in porch overlooking the lake, a kitchen equipped with modern appliances, game room with a snooker table, and a large living room with a split fieldstone fireplace. The flexibility of the Lodge allows sleeping room for eight.
The Bungalow, set on a large sunny lawn, sleeps four, has two bedrooms, each with an attached bath, a third bathroom with a small tub, kitchen equipped with modern appliances, as well as a dining room and living room with a raised fireplace. A glassed and screened-in porch runs the entire length of the home providing a beautiful view of the lake.
Enjoyed our stay! We loved being right on the water with our own private dock. The cottages are also set on spacious lots, with natural buffers on both sides thus providing seclusion from neighboring cottages. Also enjoyed the charming nature of the cottages, which to my understanding, are among some of the first on the lake.
My family and I have been vacationing at this property for 10 consecutive years and we plan on returning again this next year. We have stayed at both of the rental properties and have enjoyed both stays. For our families needs we find the bungalow to be a better fit and we have repeatedly rented this property. While you may forgo air conditioning and hot tubs what you gain is privacy and a beautiful wooded surrounding that more than makes up for it. In the 10 years we have never felt the need for air conditioning with the cool breezes off the water. We also take our boat every year. Yes we have to anchor off shore and wade out into the water to retrieve it but this has not been an inconvenience in that you are in torch lake!!!! The greatest thing about the rental property outside of the beautiful views of the lake and woods is the owners. We were stranded on the water when our boat broke down over by a local marina and the owners drove over and helped us get back to the house and also helped us load up everything in a rain storm. This is not what you would expect at a lot of rental properties for us this has sealed our annual return. We also find the quaint interiors reminiscent of a time gone by. It's like your favorite sweater or you favorite grandmas cottage....comforting. This is a place where you can really let go of your day to day stresses and enjoy the water, family and local attractions
I am in love with this property and the homes here! Torch lake is the best lake in the entire state of Michigan and to be able to stay water side in such a charming and comfortable home made our vacation one my family will never forget! Our boys loved the bollards room and I approach oater the charcoal grill to use. Plenty of space for us and our boat. Thant you for sharing such a gem with my family, WE WILL BE BACK NEXT SEASON!
Description of home location was accurate, it's on Torch Lake which is beautiful. The photos do NOT accurately reflect the property. The kitchen is NOT modern. There is only 1 shower. Both bathrooms are on the 1st floor but 3 (small, cramped, HOT bedrooms are on 2nd floor). The house is not full of antiques - more like cluttered with things found in someone else's yard or alley. It is not the ideal spot if you brought your own boat - unless you're ok with swimming out to get it, and not having a pier to tie it to. The house was NOT clean or well maintained - dusty old towels, dishes that crusty. There was no space to put anything, the house is very hot without a/c or ceiling fans. If you were a college kid, this place might be ok since the lake is great. But if the rental price is extremely high, so I'm not sure how many college kids could afford it. It's a shame the owner doesn't put a few dollars into renovating it. This could be a great house if someone took the time to upgrade it.
