it's our best kept secret on the west coast of Florida!
We spent two weeks in Gulf Coast Heaven and it was fantastic. We were there in August so we expected rain - and got it in the second week- but it was still warm. The children (13 and 16) loved the pool (even swimming in the rain) and feeding sausage to the crabs off the dock. The day trip out in Todd's boat was great, thanks Todd. We loved the trip round the island, but take lots of sun screen; we did get a bit pink. Restaurants in Tarpon Springs are good, but the one Dianne recommended, Catchers, we think was the best. Managed days out to Orlando, Clearwater and Tampa and several beaches. House was comfortable, with everything we needed, including a very large TV - when it rained the kids were in Heaven! Dianne at the end of the phone if we needed her - luckily we didn't. Best memory - glass of wine watching the sun disappear on the horizon - what a view! Overall a fantastic place to visit.
All that I can say is that this place met our every expectation. The view of the gulf is worth the stay by itself! Everyday we saw dolphins swimming by. If you can top that off, which this place can, the doors to the main bedroom open to a perfect view of the gulf every morning. The house is extremely well maintained and very cool! The pool and hot tub are amazing! The owner was attentive and accommodating. We have dealt with the owner in the past, and we were completely satisfied. If you want to stay at a beautiful home in a prime location in the Tarpon Springs area then this is the only place to stay.
My husband kids and I spent the first week of November here and had an absolutely amazing, relaxing vacation. We found the home to be comfy and cozy, decorated modern with unique accessories. We slept soundly in the snugly beds. The kids loved swimming in a pool that had a view of the ocean and I have to admit it was really relaxing to come out early in the morning and swim laps during sunrise. The home has easy access to many areas in Tampa bay we visited which was nice but by far our favorite thing about the house was watching the sunset over the gulf. It was so beautiful and was our favorite part of the day having a nice wine and sitting back and relaxing. The weather was unseasonably warm for Florida and we loved it! We are booking for next fall as we have found our vacation spot!
This property was a huge disappointment and we stayed less than 24 hours of our planned 7 nights, having to find alternative accommodation at short notice. The standard of the property was absolutely awful, it was tired, dirty and broken and did not justify the high price. Bird droppings were all over the deck, hot tub cover and outdoor furniture, the kitchen was unhygienic, the electrical wiring dangerous, the cupboards were full of "stuff", the mattresses were so uncomfortable and old, the showers had mould growing, etc, etc. The owner has still not refunded us and does not respond to our communications. We will continue to pursue her for a full refund. Would not recommend this property to anyone.
We have done the Florida thing many times but nothing came close to this location in terms of peacefulness, views and sense of home from home. We went at xmas and the weather was too cold to heat the pool but this did not in any way distract from a really great holiday. Our children are a little older now and the theme parks are less of an attraction - having fishing and passing dolphins on tap was just perfect.
The villa is quite different from many modern builds - single story and quite small bathrooms. That said the 3 sided breakfast bar, the Tikky room were huge hits - plenty of room for everyone to have space or all get together.
It is only when you sit on the back patio, cocktail in hand, BBQ slowly cooking the steaks whilst watching the most fabulous sunsets that you truly get this place.
More specifcally there are a number of malls closeby - within 35mins. They were all empty even straight after Xmas. No queue here for Hollister, A&F, Aeropostale and the numerous other shops my teenagers dragged me to. Orlando is 2 ish hours away. Easy driving and on the way back seemed quicker
The neighbourhood is very quiet. The villa is at the end of a cul de sac and we hardly saw anyone whilst we were there. Locally there are some State Parks which have good beaches and/or walks. Also, Dianne is around to help you settle in and is great company - thanks again for everything.
All in all though, it is the views and location that sets this apart. Dolphins going past the boat key several times a day absolutely made it.
We had a wonderful week here, amazing spot couldn't believe the view , so relaxing . Spent some days just lounging around the pool area and other days visited the amazing beaches nearby such as Howard Park which is our favourite. Calm waters, with lots of fishing and watching the Dolphins swim by near to the shore. Not too far from Clearwater either .We headed down there one evening to watch the sunsets over the Pier. If you want a quiet week look no further we didnt really feel like we had to go anywhere all week but our 6 year old preferred the beach and it was only a 10-15 monute drive i wouldnt have missed it for the world. And the amazing properties around the nearby lakes. The sponge docks are worth a visit, didnt eat here but the drinks in the square were reasonable and a good place to sit and watch the tourists or book a boat trip .
Would love to go back.
