Welcome to Casa Abuela, in beautiful Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico! We have a lovely, comfortable and bright beachfront home that is maintained with your privacy in mind, and relaxation in your heart.
The colorful main house has two bedrooms and baths, the separate casita has a large bedroom and bath. Each bedroom has a queen and a twin bed. We are a child and animal friendly home, and have a large palapa right on the water's edge. We have also installed a cozy Mexican outdoor fireplace for your enjoyment. The back yard and patio area is completely fenced for your privacy and pets. This is a fully furnished home. All you need is food and personal items. The ocean is at your front door. A large front porch is for your outdoor sitting pleasure. We can provide you with information on fishing and any other Sea of Cortez activities that you would like. There is a 5000 foot excellent dirt runway and a launch ramp for your boat very close to the home. You can actually park your plane and easily walk to the house.
There is a restaurant open every day except Mondays from 8-8 that has wonderful Mexican and American food at very reasonable prices. This is a seasonal restaurant. Your hosts can tell you if it is open for your vacation time. Just a 5 minute walk from the house. Julia's restaurant serves limited but good food and is open 8-8, 7 days a week. Just a short walk from the house.
We have 4 kayaks for your use and enjoyment, no charge!
All inclusive (tackle and lunch) fishing/snorkling trips available upon request. We can also help arrange for whale watching trips between January and April, and cave painting trips. These are both all day adventures.
Come swim with the fish and play with the dolphins!
We would like to introduce ourselves; Pam and Harry Oxley. We are retired, love anything connected with the ocean, and have been living in Punta Chivato for over 30 years. We have a BIG family, 1 dog, 1 cat, and friends whom we love!
Pam and Harry Oxley purchased this house in 2005
We bought this vacation rental because it offered us a chance to share our little piece of paradise, and is close enough to our own residence to easily manage. We are an all solar community, and the peace and beauty of our area is unsurpassed.
We are 11 miles off the main Baja Hwy 1, so we enjoy the solitude and serenity of rural living, with all the conveniences. Crowds are never a problem here! This is a place to reconnect with your dreams and your family/friends.
We live in Chivato full time, and can direct you to almost anything you are interested in doing.
Our location offers unique opportunities for relaxation and sightseeing. The beach is at your doorstep for shelling, kayaking, and ALL the wonderful ocean activities. Whale watching (and usually petting!), and cave painting tours are easily arranged in season. Snorkeling and fishing boat tours can be arranged also. Kayaking (kayaks are available for no charge at the house) is fun and easy, and sometimes you can even have a special encounter with a beautiful and friendly whale shark! Shelling is a favorite activity, and somehow there are always plenty, no matter how many people collect and take home!
There is good shopping in Mulege, about a 40 minute drive to the south, and Santa Rosalia, about one hour north.
Fresh seafood is normally available at your door, from local vendors, in season. During the winter months, fresh produce from local farms also comes to your door!
The Mexican people are welcoming to all and make living here a delight!
We stayed at Casa Abuela for two wonderful weeks. The casa had everything we needed, and items that spoke of the baja lifestyle. We especially enjoyed the palapa and being right on the water. Our hosts were great and made sure we had a great stay.
Golfing is desert-style, 9 holes. Whale watching from Jan. to April at San Ignacio lagoon, 2-3 hours north. Fabulous! Cave painting tours available from Mulege. Santa Rosalia, 1 hour north, is a full service city. Your hosts are close by for additional information or help.
