Recently restored, this unique property is an ideal space for anyone interested in a place of peace and silence, while still having all the mod cons in a privileged area. Due to its characteristics it is also a suitable place for tourist groups, business meetings, intimate family parties ... In these cases, you can book all the hotel.

Hotel Casa Marcial has two buildings. The first one is catalogued and is of the late c. XIX and the early XX. It is in neo-classic style and notable for its facade and the 'alcoves' inside. The second building, with a new floor, is built on the remains of a medieval noble house from the first half of the c. XVII.

In its gardens there are the remains of an X century rampart, the apse of the Romanesque, collegiate church of Santa Maria, XII century, and the rest of the ramparts from the same era.

It is located in the heart of a historic medieval town, in the Jewish quarter, on the mound where the ancient castle of Counts of Besalú stood and around which the people articulated their lives since Roman times.

Besalú is basically a medieval village. It was the capital of Besalú County (c. IX – c. XII) and welcomed an important Jewish community (c. IX – c. XV). A set of monuments are concentrated in a small space to bring out their former glory: the romanesque bridge (c. XI); the romanesque churches of Sant Pere (c. X), Sant Vicenç (c. X), Santa Maria (c. XII) and Sant Julià (c. XII); Jewish baths (Mikwe), the best preserved in Spain (c. XII – c. XIII); Remains of the ramparts; Casa Llaudes (Romanesque civil)…

This villaje is situated in La Garrotxa area, straddling the regions of Pla de l’Estany and Alt Empordà, Besalú enjoys a privileged geographic location: 45 km. from the Pirineo Catalán ski slopes (Vallter, La Molina) and the best Costa Brava beaches (Rosas, Cadaqués...); 25 km. from Olot volcano area, as well as a few minutes from the prestigious golf courses (Torremirona, Perelada...); 25 km. from the Figueres and the Dali museum; 12 km. from the Banyoles lake, home of the Regata World Championships and the Olympic Games; 130km from Barcelona.

BEST VACATION EXPERIENCE

We just got home last week and I wanted to thank you for sharing your home with us and making our vacation so wonderful by letting us have such a great place to call "home" for 1 weeks.

Location, location, location. Besalu was everything we hoped for and more. The house is located in the most beautiful area in the most beautiful town. Walking out of the door into the medieval type of street where all you need is within a short most amazing walk away is an experience I will never forget.
The area is full of attractions for a perfect family vacation, the house is full with information that was available for us to plan a great family vacation.

The house itself is equipped with all we needed, best kitchen, large rooms, large garden with BBQ and a swimming pool. The kids had a blast.

Above all, the owners. Since day one that I have started to discuss with them they were very responsive and did their best to make our stay pleasant. They answered to every request we had, helped whenever needed. I never visited a house that was so equiped, so welcoming by the owner and on arrival they even made a welcome cake for us.

The only down side was that we had to leave after just one week.

I recommend this place to everyone and if I could add more start to the 5 available I would
