Callac area Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Spacious accommodation that is also suitable for 2 families sharing

Perfectly situated to explore the beautiful landscape of central Brittany, but with easy access to the coast, Pen Hoat is a spacious and comfortable house, with traditional thick granite stone walls, and lime plastering. It is set in approximately 1500m² of extensive and tranquil gardens

Downstairs there’s a beamed living area with wood burning stove supporting central heating, sofas, and large dining table (seats 8+). The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven with hob and grill, microwave, fridge, and breakfast area with table which easily seats 6. Adjacent to the kitchen is a store with top-loading washing machine, and freezer. Downstairs there is also a roomy shower and toilet, and a bedroom with twin beds.

An open-tread polished wood staircase leads to the first floor with 3 well-proportioned bedrooms: 1 double and 2 twin bedded rooms. There’s a bright and spacious landing with an additional single bed (and cot on request). The good-sized family bathroom has a bath, toilet and wash basin.

Great for families, and their pets.

Spent a quiet couple of weeks in Brittany staying at this fine old farmhouse positioned about half a kilometre north of one of the main east/west roads, halfway between Carhaix and Rostrenen. The house has a plethora of cooking implements, chairs, sofas, garden furniture, toys etc etc which make for a comfortable stay. We managed to squeeze in 11 people and a dog, but this was slightly too many(!) and would recommend maybe 8/9 comfortably.

The garden is massive. You could easily just point the kids out there, give them a football and lose them all day. We did that some days, whilst consuming vast quantities off excellent local wines, ciders, cheese etc.

For sightseeing, there are plenty of nice old towns to wander around, the canal, the lake (Guerdelac?) and the lovely Abbey Bon repos, which has a great restaurant on site. Coastal beaches north and south are about 80 minutes drive: but don't miss Ploumanc'h - it is spellbinding.

rest and space

We enjoy our stay because our kids can run en play in the big garden with several toys. When they were screaming no one suffers from them. We visited some places but its not necessary to go away. In the house the furniture is not brand new so we dare to live. We like that and had a good time.

Lovely peaceful house with easy access to beaches and watersports at the lake in Guerledan. Our children really enjoyed exploring the local countryside and the enormous garden.

Wonderfull property in Brittany

  • 5 of 5

Spent an excellent week over Christmas in this Gite on a family getaway. Warm log fires, comfy sofa's and excellent cooking facilities for that all important xmas dinner as well a good local supermarket and shops. We especially enjoyed all the walks we could do from the Gite and visiting the local villages. The gite itself was very spacious foo our 2 families of 4. Would highly recommend this property.

Lovely peaceful holiday farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We could not fault our stay in this lovely farmhouse.

It was ample for our party of 6 with 3 children and 3 adults.

The house has all the amenities you could need, and a huge garden to lose the kids and plenty to keep them amused.

The beds are very comfortable (having stayed in a number of properties in France over the last few years, these were by far the most comfortable)

The property is located close enough to the main road for easy access to most of western brittany, but far enough away to be extremely peaceful. the only noise we ever heard was the odd tractor going by and the cows mooing when they heard the tractor!

We still went to the beach, which was about an hours drive, but we expected, that having checked the location before booking and the drive was extremely pleasant, with planty to see on the way going through some lovely villages.

I would highly recommend this property, for value for money as well as its superb facilities.

The local village has banks, a small general store (open Sunday morning), restaurant etc, plus the lovely water gardens if you fancy a quite stroll around the lake and a small lakeside beach for the kids to play on.

There are some good local markets selling local produce in the nearby towns.

Plenty of large supermarkets within easy reach too.

All in all, one of the best value properties we have stayed in.

Fantastic holiday in Brittany

  • 5 of 5

We managed to squeeze 10 into this amazing property. The garden is enormous with loads of space for children to play and lots of wildlife to inspect. The adults enjoyed wine and cider, log fires and barbecues. It is a perfect tranquil location and ideal for touring Brittany. Nearby is the beach at the local lake with pedalos for extra fun.

The property is immaculate and well maintained and there were lots of leaflets there providing details of local attractions.

Pen Hoat is in the hamlet of Keranflec’h, and situated approximately 4km from the nearest village of Maël-Carhaix, which provides all necessary amenities including general store, bakers, café and bank. A few minutes drive away is Rostrenen, which boasts one of the best local open-air markets, spread all along its streets, a definite must! The historic medieval town of Carhaix is 15 minutes drive away, and here you can enjoy golf, horse-riding, zip-wire and other high wire activities in the trees.

Also within easy reach is the scenic Lac de Guerlédan, with its beaches, forest, and Abbey which has a Son et Lumière show each August, involving a cast of hundreds of local people, horses, dogs and farm animals, and which re-tells the history of Brittany over the ages. The Lac de Guerlédan provides opportunities to cycle, canoe, windsurf, fish, and swim.
