The house is set in a small hamlet away from the road, in an elevated position and has lovely views from the terraces over the valley, woods and vineyards. There is a swimming pool (10m x 5m, 1m to 2m depth) to the rear with alarm and safety cover. It is a traditional stone built farmhouse converted to retain many of the original and attractive features. The main living area is 12m x 6m consisting of the kitchen area with breakfast bar divider, central 'walk around' fireplace and split level lounge area with gallery above. At one end of the house there is a separate dining/sitting room with TV. A shower room with WC. Stairs to galleried double bedroom. At the other end of the house further stairs from the lounge to a gallery with video, and large bedroom with 4 single beds. Off the lounge at ground floor level a second double bedroom and a second shower room with WC. In addition there is a garage and a garden of approximately 3000 sq metres.

A lovely spot

The house and pool were lovely, and the view is amazing. It's a really tranquil spot, and you can see all sorts of birds (raptors, golden orioles, hoopoes...) from the terrace above the pool.

The covered section of the terrace was great the day it rained, and also to retreat from the heat and sun the rest of the week.

The house was really well equipped, with nice touches like dishwasher tablets, loads of pool towels, every cooking utensil under the sun, etc.

The pool was a bit chilly for our 16 month old to stay in for very long, but it was really clean and didn't leave you smelling of chemicals.

The shop in Loubes-Bernac (opening times in the house information folder - thank you!) has all the daily essentials, including bread and croissants, and is only a few minutes drive away.

All in all a lovely week, and we'd definitely recommend it.

Superb Property, Great Location with Idyllic Views

This property exceeded our expectations in every way. A great location, well away from it all but within easy reach of towns and amenities. The views from the property were outstanding and the property itself has been restored extremely sympathetically to maintain its original character. Mark and Adele who maintain the property for its owner David are an invaluable source of information and ensured that our stay was a pleasurable one. You are going to need a car, but the loverly towns of Duras and Eymet are very close and Mark will tell you which restaurants are worth visiting, having said that, there is plenty of information in the property itself to get you started. We had two 16 year old boys in our party who really enjoyed the pool, but everything else they wanted to do was at least 30 minutes to an hour away (Go Karting, Water Skiing etc). The drives to these venues were easy, no traffic and very easy to find as everything is well signposted. I would definately recommend staying at this wonderful property.

For those wishing to do more than enjoy the peace of the countryside and lazing by the pool there are countless restaurants and local attractions, details of which are available in the house. Château Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club is only 10 minutes away providing 27 holes of golf, restaurant, fitness centre and beauty salon etc. There is also canoeing on the Dordogne River, horse riding, and tennis nearby. The many morning markets provide a fascinating insight into country life in this region of France and offer a wonderful opportunity to view and buy local produce. Loubes Bernac village is 5 minutes away with a shop supplying fresh bread and groceries, plus a post office and a pizzeria. The area is a joy for wine lovers with many nearby vineyards welcoming visitors and St Emilion is about an hour away.
