Annie's Cottage is a serene oasis located in Harbert Woods, a private residential area, part of renowned Harbor Country. A pleasant three-minute walk through the woods leads you to a fabulous private association beach and carefree days in the sun and sand. Although still quaint and cottage style, Annie's now enjoys a fresh coat of paint and a journey into the 21st century with cable tv and internet access. If you want to enjoy the sunset, take a peaceful stroll along the shore, or just prop your feet up and read a good book and If peace and quiet and long stretches of sand and water are your goal, this is where you need to be. The cottage has a cheery, sun-lit, eat-in kitchen which leads out to a small wooded backyard perfect for grilling out or just communing with nature. Let yourself go back to simpler times and share a quiet moment chasing fireflies with your kids.

Our fully-furnished cottage is a short walk or quiet bike ride to the famous Harbert Swedish Bakery , Cafe Gulistan, Luisa's Cafe and an array of antique shops, art galleries and fun boutiques,along with a picnic park and children's playground. The town of Sawyer is a ten minute ride north and includes the famous Sawyer Garden Center and a selection of shops and restaurants and just a bit further up the road is Warren Dunes State Park. Continue driving north for 30 minutes and experience St.Joe,famous Silver Beach and our newest area attraction, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course part of beautiful Harbor Shores Resort on the shores of Lake Michigan in Benton Harbor. Benton Harbor is enjoying a resurrgence with the Arts District featuring a number of art galleries , restaurants and the Livery, a popular music venue and brew pub.

If wine tasting is your forte, take an afternoon and experience the many well known local wineries found nestled among the winding country roads and featuring many award winning wines and restaurants.

Annie's cottage offers you hard found serenity , but convenience to an abundance of varied and family friendly activities.To our return guests, we can't wait for you to see the changes and we thank you for your loyalty and to our new guests, we look forward to sharing our much loved cottage and beach and hope you'll come to find it as special as we have for many years. I stayed with my son and daughter last June, and had a wonderful time there. It is a gem of a place, especially for the price. This was the second year in a row, and truthfully I'm reluctant to write a review, because I don't want anyone else to know about it! There is plenty of room, a cute little kitchen, a separate bedroom for the kids, and it is literally just steps away from the beach, which is the best thing about it, of course. I also appreciate the bottle of wine we receive as a welcome gift.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Had a great time! Walk to the beach was short and pleasant and the beach was great..Cottage was cozy,clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Would return here again and hope to have a longer time to stay.Owner was friendly and helpful.

Not so nice....

Not as nice as the pictures show. Very old & could have been cleaner. We walked in to a musty smelling home. The futon in the living area is very uncomfortable, you can feel the frame under you as you sit. The mattresses in both bedrooms are also very thin & not very supportive. We had no TV for most of the week because we could not get a signal & when we did, we only got 1 channel. We were not told where the instructions to the older microwave were until the day before we left, so that was useless to us. The kitchen lacked a few utensils such as a vegetable peeler. There also are no large pots to boil water in.The best thing was the beach. The surrounding communities were very nice as well.
Owner's Response: I am so sorry you were disappointed in your stay. Due to a family emergency, I was out of town and unable to check the cottage. The tv issue has been addressed with the installation of cable and a new microwave as well as new mattresses have been added. I do feel the pictures are representative and the cottage is old and has been much enjoyed. I try to price it as such and advertise no modern amenities. I thank you for your comments and am glad you could enjoy the beach

Wonderful Place close to the beach!

So far my family and I have stayed here twice and plan on coming back again! The location is wonderful, close to the beach, Swedish Bakery and not a bad drive to Chicago on a rainy day. We also love going into New Buffalo for dinner at several of their amazing restaurants. I also always stop at Barney's grocery to stock the fridge! The beach is clean and quiet even during peak season and so is the neighborhood. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing Lake Michigan beach vacation, no need to bring a lot of extras!

A very nice cottage

The cottage is located in a very nice private setting - heavily wooded, and a short walk to a beach.
Two cosy bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen with all amenities.
Harbert is a beautiful community. We loved Gulistan reataurant (mediterrian) and pies from the Swedesh bakery.
The owner is wonderful - we recieved a bottle of local vine as a welcome gift. Also, the owner sent us some items that my 4 y.o. daughter left behind. We were very pleased with the owner's polite and freindly nature.
We would love to come back and stay here again!
