The Falconer is a beautifully decorated Villa located 1.5 miles from the medieval town of Spoleto, the perfect place to relax and enjoy your Umbrian experience.
It is surrounded by a 12 acres private park offering a spectacular view of the mountains and all the privacy you may want for your relax.
The house, fully restored in spring 2010 and furnished in the typical Italian country style, will greet you in its bright and appealing spaces: the charming living room with fireplace, the cosy kitchen and the lovely bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, all viewing the mountains and valley facing the property.
Surrounded by an olive grove, the plush swimming pool with salty water is there for you to swim or to get lazy lying on a deck chair. For more details please visit us on the web at torredelfalco.
We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment. It was fabulous, spotlessly clean, very well maintained and a lovely private patio to sit outside. The pool was amazing, really big with lots of pool furniture to laze about. A first class property; I would recommend highly. The friendly owner lives on site with sweet cats.
Torre del Falco is even more beautiful than the photos. We stayed in the Falconer for one week, it is a beautiful property which has clearly been thoughtfully furnished and decorated to a very high and luxurious standard, we loved the private garden which have stunning views across the vally. The grounds are perfectly manicured, beautiful scented flowers and lots of jasmine, the pool was a delight with various seating and sun-beds. Beatrice was very welcoming and helpful during our stay and we will definitely be returning. If you're thinking of booking this, don't hesitate, it's fabulous.
I was researching the vacation rental my family (myself, husband, 5 month old son and my father) would enjoy for our late Spring holiday in Umbria. Although I diligently scanned numerous options all around the region and selected a "top 5" based on our needs & wishes, this listing immediately and consistently stood out, and after I checked off the prioritized details (choice of location - conveniently close to the jewel of a city Spoleto, yet as tranquil as a remote 'castello'; decor -for infant friendliness; swimming pool -salt water!) the Falconer was a clear winner.
Then, getting to correspond and meet our lovely hostess, Beatrice, our experience continued to unfold smoothly and delightfully. Her abundant garden and living space amenities were charming and just luxe enough to make us feel how special our time there was, without any pretention. She kindly made a baby crib available to us, and provided wonderful recommendations for local sights, cuisine and travel logistics.
The only misfortune was the unseasonably cold weather that kept us from having more occasions to enjoy the incredible view, across the lush, green valley and make use of the al fresco dining set up and _gorgeous_ pool, but we remarked on it every time we exited our little cottage (beneath the tower that sleeps 12) and especially upon arriving home.
We would go back in a heartbeat, especially if we could add family and friends and take over the property, with hot summer weather : )
We would recommend this listing, for families with children, or for romantic getaways, or for more aged travelers, really anyone who has the good sense to want to explore Umbria!
The beautiful, relaxing Falconer was everything we hoped for, and more. Neat, clean, comfortable accommodations; well-equipped kitchen; nicely landscaped grounds and breathtaking view. Beatrice's on-sight but unobtrusive presence was most helpful and welcome. There were four of us in our unit (mother, father, daughter and son-in-law), occupying two bedrooms with two adjacent full baths, allowing ample privacy for all. The facility was truly magnificent ! We would return in a heartbeat.
Staying with Bea at The Falconer was a magical experience! This is a very special holiday retreat. The apartment is stylish and spotlessly clean with the most beautiful terrace filled with fragrance from the Stephanosis and the abundance of roses. The views from the terrace are spectacular; we enjoyed sitting by the barbecue with a glass of wine watching the sunset over the far hills. The pool is wonderful - surrounded by more rose gardens. When we returned home we immediately went to buy roses for our garden inspired by Bea!
Spoleto is an interesting historical town very worth exploring and the local region is full of old hill-top towns equal to any in Tuscany. The National Park is very accessible; it is remote and tranquil and pretty with surprising historical churches and monasteries tucked away off the beaten track.
Staying with Bea and her family of cats is like staying with an old friend who has nothing but your own enjoyment in mind. Rest at the pool; enjoy local restaurants; wander further afield even to Rome on the train and then return to the friendly support of your host. A holiday destination not to be missed !!
The property was beautifully clean and maintained and the grounds were tended with great care by Bea, the lovely owner. I would definitely recommend it to friends. The salt water pool was much nicer than the usual chlorine treated pools. It was an excellent base to explore Umbria's beautiful countryside, towns and villages. There is plenty to do with rafting, wine tasting, walking, riding as well as enjoying the fabulous food and wine of the area in the many friendly, well priced, local restaurants.
A great holiday!
Spoleto has a tradition in History and art which goes back to the ancient Roman civilization. You can spend your days visiting the castle and the many churches and exhibitions, getting lost in the narrow streets punctuated by artisan shops, discover the Umbrian tastes and flavours in the typical, cosy restaurants, and end the day attending one of the many cultural happenings typical of this town. And when you get tired of human artefacts, you can just walk for hours on end in the surrounding woods and mountains, immersing yourself into the beautiful nature or following the prints of San Francis along his retreat paths. Explore the many breathtaking towns within less than 30 minutes by car: Bevagna, Trevi, Spello, Montefalco and Foligno; or in one hour you can reach Assisi, Orvieto, Deruta, Perugia, Todi, Cascia and Norcia. Rome is 1h 20’ away by train, and Florence is just two hours by car.
