The double bedroom and kitchen face south-east and have superb views of the castle. The twin bedroom faces north west towards the golf course and the Cheviots. Parking for 2 cars at the rear. The cottage is luxuriously furnished in antique pine and equipped to a very high standard including full central heating and double glazing. The sitting room with beamed ceiling has a Sony Smart TV, DVD, retro telephone and wireless Internet access. There is an open fire for which fuel is supplied free of charge. The kitchen has a large pine table, fully fitted range of units and appliances including split level oven/hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, washer/drier, iPod dock and a large range of utensils. There is a small separate deep freeze in the cloakroom cupboard. Upstairs, the double bedroom with king-size bed and the twin bedroom can accommodate 4 guests. All beds have feather duvets, 2 pillows and electric under blankets. Bathroom with bath and shower over, washbasin, WC and airing cupboard.

Amenities: Wireless broadband, landline with upstairs extension, electricity, hot water, central heating and fuel for the open fire is included in the rental price. In addition we provide a kitchen hand towel, 2 tea towels, washing up cloths and a bath mat. All linen is provided except beach towels.

We live in the Tyne valley near Hexham. Boundary Cottage is much more a second home than a holiday let. Hopefully, we will move to Bamburgh in the next few years. Rachel and James (pictured) were fortunate to have spent much of their childhood days there....a great place for holidays and weekend breaks. Rachel is a dentist currently working in Yorkshire and James is at Durham University studying Geology.

Boundary Cottage (formerly Alma Cottage) was built as a one up, one down to house families working the farm on The Wynding run by George Dixon and his son (also George). George Dixon (Snr.) was related by marriage to Grace Darling who was born in 1844. The cottage was sold by Lord Armstrong in 1986 after the terrace was renovated and extended by a local architect and builder, Charles Gregory. We were very fortunate to acquire Boundary Cottage after submission of sealed bids in July 1985 to Peter Bolam, Lord Armstrong's agent at that time.

Boundary Cottage is in a perfect location within easy walking distance of the beach and the village centre. It's a far cry from the typical holiday let and is equipped and furnished as if it were our main home. It is used largely by family and friends and has many home comforts and facilities such as full central heating, an open fire and a telephone landline (mobile signal provided by most network carriers is sporadic). Views of the Castle are stunning.

GREAT RELAXING FAMILY GETAWAY

This cottage is perfectly equipped with board games, books and beach stuff so your activity choices are all catered for. The cottage is finished to a very high standard and the fire makes the lounge very warm and cozy. With a short walk to the beach, pub and shops what more could you ask for. My 6 year old particularly loved the view of the park from the bedroom window so she could see if her favourite swing was free before venturing out (and we loved the castle - lit up at night - very romantic!) We would love to return.

OUR BEST FAMILY HOLIDAY EVER

We are not long back from our truly wonderful Northumbrian holiday, definitely in contention for our best family holiday EVER!

Boundary Cottage was just perfect, cosy and traditional yet well equipped. We especially loved the luxurious towels, the great and the comfy beds. And we just could not believe its amazing location. What other cottage would have such a view from the kitchen table?
Absolutely stunning.

Our 6 year old made full use of the nearby playground, and our 11 year old and I hired the tennis court one evening. We played lots of football on the recreation ground, and also really enjoyed watching the cricket and the triathalons that were happening the weekend that we arrived. And how amazing to have that fantastic (uncrowded) beach
5 minutes' walk away from our door!

The location of Boundary Cotage was outstanding. We did the Farne Islands, Dustanburgh and Alnwick castles and Lindisfarne, and had a couple of good potters round Seahouses and Bamburgh itself (a beautiful, friendly village with a good deli and a great butcher) in addition to a LOT of time on the beach. Holiday rounded off with a trip to nearby Hadrian's Wall.

We will definitely return to Boundary Cottage when we can. The owner was unfailingly friendly and helpful during all our telephone discussions around the booking, and when we arrived at the cottage we found that a tea tray and fresh flowers had been set out to welcome us, a lovely unexpected surprise.

This holiday was an extra break to keep us going till our main holiday in Cornwall... Cornwall has now got a lot to live up to!

FANTASTIC COTTAGE!

This cottage is everything it claims to be and so much more! It is the perfect blend of old architecture with modern conveniences. There was not a single thing we could have wanted that the cottage didn’t already have. We absolutely loved waking up to the castle and ocean views. The short walk (2 minutes) to town for the butcher and green grocer made cooking a joy. Bamburgh is very centrally located if you are looking to explore Northumbria. The owners were so helpful with suggestions and recommendations. Their attention to detail really made our holiday wonderful, particularly Allison’s recommendation of Whitehouse Farms. Our daughter surrounded by week-old lambs was the highlight of our trip, and a memory she will keep forever. Thank you for everything! It was perfect. We already long to be back there!

Boundary Cottage occupies one of the most sought after locations in the village just below the castle near the centre of Bamburgh on the road which leads to the beach and the golf course. The cricket ground, which lies between the cottage and the castle, provides direct access to the magnificent sandy beach which is only 300 metres away. The double bedroom and the kitchen face south-east and have superb views of the castle. The cottage is ideally situated for families as there are no roads to cross to get to the beach. There is a block paved area to the back of the property (the original farmyard) from which a pedestrian gate gives access to a large grassed area known as ‘The Green’ which is also the cricket ground. It can be used for general recreation and is our extended garden! On the edge of ‘The Green’ nearest to the cottage are a children’s play area and an all weather tennis court. The tennis court can be hired through ‘The Victoria Hotel’ in the village for a small charge.

Other Activities: Bird watching, Alnwick Castle and Garden, Hadrian's Wall, Grace Darling Museum.

Golf: The stunning location has often seen Bamburgh Castle Golf Club quoted as one of the most scenic in Britain. Offering views of Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, the Cheviots and of course Bamburgh Castle, the course is one of the truest links experiences to be had in England. The course is lined by gorse, heather, whinstone and rare fauna and has a unique series of opening holes with back to back par 3s followed by two excellent par 5s. While not the longest course, amounting to just over 5,600 yards, it is a demanding par 68 although there are birdie opportunities especially on the way home with three par 4s under 300 yards for you to savour.

With a friendly clubhouse serving good food, Bamburgh Castle is a perfect getaway for societies and casual visitors, testing golfers of every level.

Other fine courses in the area include Berwick upon Tweed (Goswick) and the West Links at North Berwick to the north and Alnmouth (Foxton) to the south.

Notes Boundary Cottage is let for full weeks from Friday to Friday. Short breaks running from Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday can sometimes be offered at half the corresponding weekly rate plus £150.
A deposit of £100 will be refunded in full within two weeks of departure providing the cottage is left in the same state as it was found. Rates include routine final cleaning, fuel and WiFi.
