Perfect place for a family get-together

We booked all three apartments, The Chapter House, Caladh and Talisker for a last minute get together, we were celebrating a 70th birthday party and hence wanted somewhere special to mark the occasion. We found the perfect properties on Owners Direct and made an enquiry to the property manager who responsded quickly; we then proceeded to make a booking through their website. The service was professional from start to finish. All properties lived up to our expectations, the location was idyllic and the architecture stunning, what a wonderful historic conversion. The properties are extremely well equipt and there has been no shortage of money spent on them, each one was unique and had plenty of original features. The Spa has a lovely swimming pool, sauna and steam room which was just what was required after a day walking in The Highlands. I understand that a beauty salon is imminent, which will complete the first class facilities. The whole party agree that we will return for another family gathering and would whole heartedly recommend this to anyone wishing to visit this stunning part of Scotland and as an econoimical way of organising a family get together. My only critism is that the bike racks are externally located although secure as when we return we will probably wish to bring our own bikes, however bike hire is avaialble on site.

Walking & Cycling: The Great Glen Way which runs through Fort Augustus, is a footpath of 70 miles across Scotland between Inverness in the east and Fort William in the west. Alternatively, you could walk along the old military road in Fort Augustus taking in some stunning views of the village and Loch Ness or take one of the trails around nearby Alt na Criche. There are many beautiful woodland walks and cycle routes in and around Fort Augustus for you to enjoy.

Monster Activities: Operates from The Highland Club offering Target Sports, Abseiling, Canoeing and White Water Rafting.

Touring: Whisky Distilleries are in all directions, while for the children, the Hogwarts Express is a train that runs along the valley where Harry Potter was filmed. The nearby ruins of Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle and the world famous Eilean Donan Castle are all within an hour's drive.

Coast/Beach:

The beautiful beaches of the West Coast of Scotland can be found about an hour away with easy access to Isle of Skye across the new bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. To the East there are several possibilities in the Dornoch/Black Isle area.

Travel:

Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is about a 45 minute drive from The Highland Club and offers all the amenities and some wonderful tourist attractions.

The Benedictine Abbey, built in 1876, is one of the oldest buildings in Fort Augustus, and one of the most impressive buildings anywhere around Loch Ness. It is built on the site of the original Hanovarian fort named after William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland. The original foundations still form part of the buildings today, though very little remains of the original fort. For many years a part of the Abbey was run as a school, by the monks, but it was closed some years ago due to financial pressures. There have been sightings of the Loch Ness Monster from the grounds of Fort Augustus Abbey by the monks that used to live here. When the Monks finally closed the Abbey as a place of worship, the buildings were converted into the luxury development known as The Highland Club.

The Highland Club is superbly located to sample all that the Highland?s has to offer. Located 30mins from the city of Inverness and Inverness Airport, it is close enough to fly for a short rejuvenating break.
