Overview

Qrendi Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom cosy three storey house, sleeps 6, 2k from sea and Megalithic temples

Il Musbieh is in the tranquil village of Qrendi, one of the few remaining traditional villages in the south of Malta. With narrow winding streets, both our house and the village offer the perfect antidote for visitors who want to get away from it all and enjoy the timeless, traditional Maltese way of life.

The house is a renovated 19thC home full of traditional stone features, cosy, contemporary furnishings and 21st C technology including a new AC system. On the ground floor is an open plan reception/study area, sitting area, fully equipped Shaker-style kitchen, utility area and a large family bathroom. On the first floor are the master bedroom with 6ft bed and small ensuite; an external patio for breakfast in the sun; and a second double bedroom with ensuite. The third bedroom on the second floor is a barumbara (dove cote) with ensuite shower room and spiral staircase to the roof with panoramic views of Malta. There is also a terrace for sunbathing and eating al fresco.

You can also sunbathe on the roof on our sun loungers. The external spaces are not overlooked so the house is very private.

Fancy a two centre holiday?: If you would like to split your time between two completely different types of Malta holiday experience, please have a look at our seafront apartment in Birgu - 439983. For example, if you are coming to Malta for two weeks, you may like to spend a week unwinding in the peace and quiet of Qrendi followed by a second week overlooking Grand Harbour, swimming off the rocks outside the apartment and exploring the historic city of Birgu. If so, please check availability and send us an email.

Qrendi - Brad Pitt's new home town: Hollywood star Brad Pitt and his family rented a property in Qrendi, the Guarena Palace, during the filming of his zombie movie World War Z in summer 2011.

It is also one of Malta's friendliest villages where all the residents are helpful and welcoming.

About The Owner

I lived in Malta until I was 11 - a most wonderful, 'golden' childhood spending most of my time either in or by the sea. I have always retained a very strong emotional tie to this quirky island and we bought our first property in 2007 with a view to retiring here.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2010

Why The Owner chose Qrendi

Il Musbieh is our second property which we fell in love with in 2010 after almost a year of scouring the island for a suitable property that would suit both our family and be appealing to holiday guests. We love its character, the warmth and friendliness of our Maltese neighbours and its location close to the sea, country walks and the ancient temples.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well, thank you once again, house is amazing, nice and with a special touch on everything. The place is quiet and the village is genuine and relaxing to be back to after days spent driving and walking around the islands.

Last but not least, your idea to leave keys in the safe box, and the clear instructions package, make everything easy going, and allow visitors to arrive late and be fully independent.

Perfect for enjoying a quiet break in Malta

  • 5 of 5
This is a lovely property, very comfortable. Four of us stayed, bags of room, the property was clean, tidy and well maintained. All was as described in the listing. Qrendi is a quiet place, and served as an ideal place from which we explored the island. The blue grotto and Hagar Qim temples are very close by, but even if you are heading north of the island to go and see Comino for example, if you have a car it is easy to get to and doesn't take that long. The local shop provided most things you would need and we found it useful. Christiane was very helpful and I have to say is very responsive to even the most minor of queries... extremely helpful. The week we stayed in August coincided with the local fiestas, which added to the visit for us. A very enjoyable visit... and sad to have had to come home.

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5
We did have high expectations of our holiday in this house but they were surpassed the moment we entered the door. The house is an absolute delight. We were able to relax and enjoy the extensive accommodation from the moment we arrived. The pictures do not do the house justice; it feels spacious and there are plenty of places to find a corner to read or just chill out. Malta is somewhere we might be coming back to. A car is recommended; there are wonderful beaches but best got to by one's own transport. I would give some of the more touristy places a miss but Valletta is worth popping into for a day out. If we do come back then we would certainly consider coming back to this property.

A fantastic week

  • 5 of 5
I would like to say a huge thank you for the use of your home in Qrendi. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time. I do not feel the photos on the website do your house justice. We loved it. Qrendi is a lovely town and all the locals are lovely and extremely helpful.

I will definately be returning in the very near future.

Lots of lovely bays to visit, especially Ghar Lapsi.

Thanks
Tina & Gary Scott and family.

The real spirit of Malta in a real house of charme

  • 5 of 5
House is actually better than pictures.... mainly because pictures can't describe the real feeling you get in this nice location, made in globigerine stone, where it is easy to relax and get the feeling of Malta. Evertyhing well organized and described, efficient, with a special touch on every detail.
Owner is really kind, informative and professional, extremely recommended.
Qrendi is a small village located in the middle of everything but so quiet. Few minutes drive from fantastic sunsets experienced on the "falesia" along the amazing west coast as well as from all the main Heritage sites. Unfortunately just one week....

Lovely place!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time in Qrendi! A nice and quiet village, with good connection by bus (only €12,- for the whole week) and very friendly people at the small grocery just around the corner. The house itself is really beautiful, very spacious (except maybe for the shower in the bedroom on the first floor... no problem, there's a large bathroom downstairs!) and it's decorated with love! We didn't miss anything, the house is complete.Christiane is very kind and always reacts very quick by email. I would surely recommend this house to my friends! Thanks again Christiane!

Qrendi has a population of 2,500 and is surrounded by fields and a beautiful coastal road for walking and cycling. Within 2k are the World Heritage Sites of Hagar Qim ('HA-jar eem') and Mnajdra, the best-preserved Megalithic limestone temples in Malta dating back to c. 3600 to 3200 BC. Qrendi retains many other links with the past including a 17thC octagonal tower in Triq-it-Torri (Tower Street) - just 100 metres from the house - built by the Knights of St John to protect the area from marauders.

Qrendi celebrates its main, week-long festa in mid August. This is a religious festival with musical performances, processions, street parties, fireworks and pyrotechnic exhibitions.

Qrendi is walking distance from the Blue Grotto, a world-famous natural grotto with a neighbouring system of caverns that mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora as well as a number of good value restaurants and cafes overlooking the sea.

The popular fishing port of Marsaxlokk and the historic Three Cities are 15 minutes away by car.
