Cheryl's House was designed as a romantic oceanview retreat.
This cottage has one bedroom (queen-size Tempirpedic bed with a featherbed topper) with French doors opening out onto the deck. There’s a double-headed shower for two with stone tiles in the bathroom. The living room has two sets of French doors which open out onto the deck with expansive views overlooking the Pacific Ocean and up the Navarro River valley. There’s a very comfortable futon couch (where a child or one additional adult can sleep), a glass-front Lopi gas-burning 'woodstove,' an antique pine dining table and chairs and a Scandinavian armoire. The floors are newly refinished redwood and Mexican paver tiles, with luxurious oriental carpets.

The Mendocino coast is wild and rugged -- and the view from our deck overlooks the ocean and the river valley. We are just 7 miles from the historic village of Mendocino, 2 miles from the best restaurant on the coast (Ledford House) and 15 miles from Anderson Valley wineries.
Our guest cottage is quiet & private, you can hear the waves, smell the salt air, and see millions of stars at night.
Noah & I cooked, painted, read, watched birds out the windows, saw hawks & ravens, searched for whales, went kayaking on the river. We remembered why leaving the city pace is such a good idea!
We wanted to escape for a romantic weekend and this was the perfect place. Cozy, clean, and charming. We truly appreciated the attention to detail, and the simple yet well thought out decorating. We loved the hardwood floors, open beam ceilings, and all the windows displaying the amazing view. It was cold and foggy, but we were happy to escape our hometown heat, and cozy up to the warmth of the little wood stove. We explored nearby Anderson Valley and Mendocino, but honestly the highlight was hanging out in the deckhouse. We will most certainly return.
This is a beautiful little house perched high up on Navarro Ridge near the town of Albion, CA. We were looking for a quiet, intimate winter vacation house and this was the perfect fit!
Too many times vacation rental properties fall short of expectations. Certainly not the case with Cheryl's House.
Not only is the house located in the perfect spot with an incredible view of the Navarro River and Pacific Ocean, but Cheryl has paid attention to a lot of little details which makes her rental feel just like home.
To be fair, we lucked out with the weather. Sunny days the whole way, without a trace of wind during our stay. When we walked into the house, we were greeted by gentle music playing on the stereo, the fireplace was on, and I could feel myself slipping into vacation mode. Kitchen was well equipped, and to my surprise, the knives were even sharp. Bed was comfortable, the main room was stocked with books, games and DVD's.
If a quiet, peaceful getaway on the coast is what you are looking for, give Cheryl's house a try.
