Family holiday

Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks during August 2008. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a clean, tidy and well maintained apartment which was well stocked with books, films and beach toys (which was great as it meant we didn't have to spend a fortune on inflatables which we would only have to leave behind!). The linen was changed at the start of the second week.
My husband and I shared a room with our 2 year old daughter. admittedly we were a little squashed in with the travel cot but the large wardrobes meant we weren't falling over piles of clothing. My in-laws shared the twin room. Having 2 bathrooms was great as it meant we didn't have to queue for the shower! The living area provided adequate family seating although the terrace was a real bonus as it provided us with so much extra usable space. The gate also meant it was safe for the 2 year old. During the second week we were joined for a few days by my brother-in-law and his partner who slept in the living area. Although this was OK for a few days, I do think 6 adults would struggle to stay on good terms if this was the arrangement for more than a week! I was concerned that there was no air-conditioning but the ceiling fans were excellent at keeping the temperature down. A real bonus was the swimming pool which was quiet most days. My daughter loved the toddler pool and the fact it was so near the apartment was great.
While we were in Son Bou we hired a car which I thoroughly recommend. Although there are buses, having the car gave us greater freedom to explore the island and we soon discovered that it doesn't take long to get anywhere! We found that the small supermarkets were very pricey so having a car meant we could go to the larger supermarkets in nearby towns.
The beach in SonBou was lovely. There are places to eat but there isn't much variety in what's on offer. It's definitely worth going a little further afield to eat out. During the evening, there was an area for children to play - bouncy castle etc although SonBou was the only resort we found not to have a decent play park. Having said that, my daughter soon realised that everytime we went anywhere, she would soon find a great place to play.
It didn't take long to walk from the apartment to the centre but it involoved walking down, and back up, at least 100 steps. We certainly came back alot fitter than when we went! I would definitely recommend this holiday.
