Spacious and quiet four-season condo apartment in resort location with views of Lake Tremblant and village. The ski-in/ ski-out condo sleeps up to eight people and is positioned on the slopes of Mt Tremblant, with a piste-marked trail running behind the property. Outside there is a dedicated single car parking slot with engine block warmer and large private ski-locker for sporting equipment. Accommodation benefits from cathedral ceilings, large fireplace and consists of two bedrooms (queen, 2x bunks + 1 single + 1 hideaway) and two bathrooms (en-suite has jacuzzi bath). The open-plan living area includes double sofa-bed, fully equipped kitchen with 4-hob cooker, m/wave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The condo overlooks a 60ft waterfall and has a balcony with furniture and gas BBQ. There is a 28' TV, DVD player and CD stereo. Further amenities include washer and drier, direct line telephone, free wifi access and complimentary shuttle service to the village, although only 10 min walk. Perfect location for Ironman!
Ski Activities: Mt Tremblant is Eastern North America's No.1 ski destination for the 11th year running, as voted for by SKI magazine readers. The mix of great accommodation, superb cuisine, friendly locals and of course great skiing makes for a fantastic winter vacation. The resort is 100% family friendly with numerous creche facilities, fun activities for older children and a friendly ski-school which caters for every ability.
There are a total of 94 trails and over 625 acres of skiable terrain, with a vertical drop of 2,116ft. There are 17 high speed lifts. Beginners/intermediates 60%, expert 40%.
Apres-ski is just as important at Tremblant and the village boasts some of the liveliest bars to rival the best in the world. Of particular renown is the Petit Caribou, rated No.1 Bar in Eastern North America. Tremblant boasts a large number of restaurants, with something to suit all budgets and tastes. From fine-dining to convenience foods - you will always find the right thing to match your mood.
Golf activities: Tremblant resort has 2 golf courses, Le Diable and Le Geant, with a further four courses all within 10 minutes' drive.
Le Diable is an 18-hole championship course and a member of the select RAVEN family of golf courses. Rated at 4.5/5 by Golf Digest and one of the Top 10 courses in Canada by Golf Style, Le Diable is 7,056 yards with a Par of 71. Le Diable was designed by Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry in 1998.
Le Geant is also an 18-hole championship course and offers spectacular views of the Laurentians. Rated 'Best golf resort in Canada' by ScoreGolf magazine and one of the Top 10 courses in Canada, Le Geant is 6,836 yards with a Par of 72.
Golf lessons to suit every skill level are available at Le Diable at extremely reasonable rates.
Hiking/ Sailing/ Kayaking/ Climbing/ Rafting: The condo is located within the National Park of Mont-Tremblant with easy access to a huge number of outdoor activities as well as those provided within the resort. These include rafting on one of the top 10 rivers in North America (the Rouge river), kayaking, acrobranching (using zip lines, trapezes and monkey bridges), cliff climbing horseback riding, quad biking, car racing at the Mont-Tremblant circuit, waterskiing, tubing and wakeboarding/surfing, airplane and helicopter tours, fly fishing, lake fishing, clay pigeon shooting, caleche tours (horse-drawn), guided canoe excursions, walking tours, nature interpretation (day and night which includes star-gazing), cycling, in-line skating, mini-golf, birds of prey exhibitions, boat rental, bungy jumping, trampolining, swimming, tennis, diving and summer luging. The National Park has an excellent Via Ferrata course. The course has two levels of difficulty and can be navigated with a guide (recommended) and without.

About Ianthe Stark
My fiance Ianthe and I live in the UK, about 30 miles from London. We both commute into the city for work; Ianthe as a company director of a recruitment business and myself as a publishing manager for a legal services provider. We met in 1995 when we were both working for our local newspaper and have been a couple for fourteen years. Aside from winter sports, we have a number of other interests that keep us busy when not in Tremblant. Ianthe keeps a number of chickens in our garden and I keep bees. Sadly customs rules do not allow us to import either eggs or honey into Canada, so you'll have to take our word for it that both taste great!
Ianthe and I were looking for a viable alternative to European skiing which we were finding increasingly expensive and impersonal. We jumped at the chance of trying something a lttle bit different when we were offered a couple of cheap flights to Montreal. I had always wanted to visit the city and we learned of a ski resort not more than 90 minutes' drive from the airport; Tremblant. We read the reviews and it seemed perfect. That was in the winter of 2001/2 and since then we have never felt the need to go anywhere else for our vacations winter or summer.

Why Ianthe Stark chose Mont Tremblant
The resort accommodation can be broken down into four property types; hotel rooms and condos in the pedestrian village, ski in/out condos in the resort location, and properties in the resort region that require a shuttle bus to get to the resort. Accommodation in the pedestrian village is the most convenient for accessing bars and restaurants, however is extremely noisy when the resort is busy - at weekends you go to bed with the last of the revellers and rise with the keenest skiers 'first-tracking' at 7.30am. The ski in/out condo accommodation in the resort is a happy medium. Slopeside access is hugely convenient and you can escape the bustle of the village with a 5-10 minute walk when you're ready to call it a night. The condos in the resort region are similarly relaxing, but one is reliant on shuttle transport, which does compromise things slightly.
Having stayed at the Westin in the village for several years, we knew that the ski-in/out condos delivered the perfect solution for us when we were ready to purchase our own condo.
Of all the condo developments, Le Plateau is the most private and family friendly. You are in the heart of nature and we often see families of caribou feeding on our lawn. Of course nothing beats putting on your ski boots in the comfort of your own porch and walking 50ft to the slopes! A close second is being able to ski back home for lunch, which produces a big saving, particularly if you are feeding a family.
The thing that struck when we first walked through the door of this unit was its sheer space and tranquility. We knew instantly that this was the property for us. Although it's a two-bed unit, the volume of space available is greater than that of many three-bed units. The cathedral ceiling of the living area delivers great drama and you will not believe that you are in a condo.
The main bedroom is on the second floor and distant from the second, so children can play in peace and adults can take a well earned rest.
What makes this condo unique
The condo is a happy medium of the vast choice of accommodation available in the resort and carries no compromises.
Aside from the obvious benefits of the ski-in/out in the winter, Le Plateau has a number of other facilities available exclusively to guests.
Swimming pool and club house. There is a large two-season supervised swimming pool which is served by a spacious club house, that has toilet facilities and a games room. In the winter months, the lake next to the swimming pool becomes a skating rink and there are often impromtu games of ice hockey between guests. Sadly we skate (and ski) like Brits and so do not often take up the challenge of our neighbours.
Walking trails and childrens' play area. Summer guests do not need to leave the tranquil surroundings of Le Plateau at all if they wish. Whilst you relax on the porch and read to the backdrop of the waterfall behind the condo, your children will be safely entertained in the play area, pool or nature walks.
Inside the condo, everything is finished to the high standards that you can expect to find throughout the resort. Home comforts are everywhere; a large and fully appointed kitchen, washer drier, selection of family games, flat screen TV and blu-ray player, large collection of DVDs, large porch with BBQ. Our favourite however is the large fireplace, which is just the thing for sitting in front of with a glass of wine at the end of the day whilst you share the stories of your heroic deeds on the slopes!
We have owned the condo for over six years now and we have never once regretted our decision to make a home in Le Plateau. In fact our only regret is only being able to visit for four weeks each year. Please come and share our experience.
