So Sorry to say but keep away! Don't rent!!!
Review Submitted: April 28, 2009
Date of Stay: December 2008
In december we rented this penthouse. We had no problem keeping in touch with the owner before we arrived. We paid in full for our stay, and when we arrived and called the owner to meet us and were told to wait at a nearby coffee shop.
Five hours later, thanks to the kindness of the coffee shop girls we were able to get a hotel room in Glasgow. Our thoughts were that we were scammed. After contacting the local police we were advised to file a complaint the next morning. Miraculously that evening the owner (who was in england) called my cell phone and after I spoke of the police had someone drop the key to our hotel for the next morning.
He apologized and promised to send us a reimbursement for the hotel stay for the night we missed in the property. It is now april 28th and I have been emailing him since december asking for this check
to no avail.
Although the size was large, the property wasn't really cleaned, and only 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and no facecloths. We were not given any written instructions, and truthfully it put a big damper on our week vacation.
I really wanted to give the owner the benefit of making a bad mistake, but I really think this will happen again to someone else
and they won't be as lucky as us to have met the lovely coffee shop girls who made calls for us.

Owner's Response: This is the first negative review for my property in 5 years and I welcome the opportunity to introduce the facts.
My check in times are 1400 - 1800, however I do try to be flexible to allow guests in early or to leave late depending on availability. If you check my other guest reveiws they will confirm my support and extra assistance for guests.
These middle aged and elderly ladies arrived on a very long flight from USA and arrived very early in the morning the day of their check in expecting to go straight into the apartment without requesting early entry. I IMMEDIATELY arranged for my 65 year old mother to meet them at the cafe they were supposed to be in, within the hour they were not there. THEY DID NOT WAIT FOR 5 HOURS AS CLAIMED. I called them on their mobile to find out were they were, as my mother was walking around all the cafes in the area in order to find them. they said they had checked into a hotel called the IBIS in Glasgow city center.
I personally went to the IBIS to meet them and drop off the keys, they had booked in under a false name the reception had no details of them. I kept tying to call them for about 4 hours, when I got through they were in bed sleeping tired after the long flight. I was becomming suspicious but at the same time gave the benefit of the doubt.
I asked them why they did not wait, they said they were tired. I must admit to being frustrated after dropping everything to assist them, to then find they had just gone to bed, despite them knowing we were trying to find them.
After their sleep they were refreshed, when they got into the flat they were full of positive comments and how they loved it and the views etc, as all my guests do, there was absolutely no negative comments from them during theyre stay what so ever.
3 weeks later I get a request for a refund, to my disbelief. Aparantly this event spoiled their whole holiday. I offered them the night in their hotel and requested payment details for a wire transfer. THEY REFUSED TO DO THIS.
They then started sending me fake holiday requests and enquiries for the property threatening to write bad reviews. I informed them that I would not be threatened or bullied into a refund when I provided everything they asked for.
The sad thing is, had they requested early entry it would have been no problem, they could have done so as the apartment was free the night before,
I thank them for the review who ever they really are.
Mark
