Antigua is famous for its 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. Dickensons Bay, which the villa overlooks, is one of the most vibrant areas where you can relax or particpate in a variety of watersports. Alternatively you can relax with a drink by the pool and watch the spectacular sunsets in the evenings. Antigua provides some of the most interesting historical attractions such as Nelsons dockyard, Betty's Hope sugar plantation and BBQ at Shirleys Heights on a Sunday which is very popular with visitors. Information about all there is to see and do is available in the information books at the villa
Having worked in higher education as a nurse lecturer I am now working part time as community nurse advisor. My husband a retired hospital consultant has family connections to Antigua dating back five generations.
Judy Forward purchased this villa in 2005
After visiting Antigua for a number of years we discovered the unique residential development of Halcyon Heights. A perfect holiday environment for all age groups offering relaxation, swiming, close to restuarants and beach activites
Fabulous views from the villa and gardens
We've been back for a week now after 4 weeks at your villa, and I just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you so much for letting us stay in your fabulous home in Antigua. It was just what we needed and we had a wonderful and much needed rest, made all the more pleasant by having such a fab base at Hummingbird Villa.
What a perfect location!
We had a hire car for the duration, so were off out on our adventures every day. It was so lovely to have a nice cosy and comfortable place to come "home" to at the end of the day.
We loved it!
We cherished the peace and quiet.......and had absolutely no problem with mosquito's, We had lots of rain whilst we were there too (much needed on the island)We had absolutely no problems at all.
We are thinking of spending some time in 2015 on the Island and would like to stay at your home again
We spent three weeks at Hummingbirds Villa over looking Dickenson Bay and enjoyed the tranquility of the first floor villa and surroundings, especially the fresh water swimming pool. All amenities are provided and the villa was extremely well equipped. The property was cooled by fans which we initially thought was a downside but we did not need AC as the fans were perfectly adequate once we were acclimatised. The internet worked well but tended to be slow but there are lots of places that have a faster internet connection if required. The owners made every effort to ensure that the villa had everything needed.
There was a comfortable patio suite to relax in and to enjoy the panoramic view of the bay, the cleaning was done once a week by a very friendly maid and bed linen and towels changed. The site manager was around seven days a week in the daytime cleaned the pool every day and there was a security guard patrolling from 10pm until 6am
We found that the villa was located in one of the best areas of the island as there were plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, however a car was essential to get to St John’s or to other parts of the island and for shopping.
We enjoyed our holiday in Antigua and would not hesitate to use Hummingbird villa if we visited the island again.
This villa is absolutly perfect in more ways than one. This is my second time staying at Judy & Robins Villa and i can say, i wouldnt want to stay anywhere else on the island, not even with my own family. Perfect location, close to town and supermarket. Perfect sea views, even when it rains(which is never usually that long) its beautiful, you can watch it from the terrace balcony. The description is more than acurate and it really is a delightful place, has everything from pots and pans, nice towels and enough space to fit all your nice holiday clothes in. Me and my partner feel very safe and secure here and unlike other accomodation, you do not feel restricted, we came and went as we pleased. The villa is very clean and has a lovely layout, very homely and warm, it is extremely well maintained and we cant find any faults. I love the island and can honestly say i am always happy when i know i'll be staying at Robin and Judy's. There are lots of recomendations, including Half Moon Bay, our favorite beach, Dennis Bar & Grill, near Jolly Beach and also Jolly Harbour Al Porto does a great italian, too many to mention. if your lucky like me to have a great partner who can cook, many a meal has been shared on the beautiful seating area.I even managed to invite my dad over for dinner!!!! The pool area and gardens are immaculate and so much effort is put into keeping it nice, it shows. The Site Manager Steve is always around and greets us with a smile each morning, he saved me during a flying bug incident!!! Always very helpful and willing. I have already sent a link to a friend who i met on the plane and my family also say they would stay there when they get the chnace to make it back to Antiga. Overall I love this place and honestly cant think of any reasons why anyone else wouldnt, if you want a great holiday with everything covered, then this is the place to be :-)
Hummingbirds Villa is extremely well equipped with kitchen materials, fans and everything required for a luxury holiday with a freedom of movement, that no fully inclusive resort could ever offer. The two double bedrooms are light and airy, and there is loads of space in the apartment. For people who prefer to stay inside, there is also a spacious seating area and tv. We spent most of our time on the balcony, which is extremely big and allows you to entertain people to your hearts content. The view is nothing short of amazing, azure blue sea as far as the eye can reach. The pool has a nice temperature and is very clean, and the pool seating area can be a nice social place to meet some of the other guests if you would choose to do so. The grounds are well maintained and well watered. We much preferred this type of holiday to an all inclusive resort, where you don't get to see the island and get to know to the local attractions. The beach in Dickenson's Bay is beautiful, and there is enough night life and there are several good restaurants to keep you entertained at all time.
We went to Putters, a bar near the casino, were we were warmly welcomed by the owners and the other bar staff. Try the pizza it is lovely and the cocktails are awesome. Peppers and Lime at the beach often has bands on Sunday afternoon, which is good fun. We even saw Curtley Ambrose there playing the bass guitar.
We rented a car to see the island and tried a different beach every day. English Harbour is also worth a visit and The Nest beach near Jolly Beach is gorgeous.
I can definitely say that we had one of the best holidays ever at Hummingbirds villa. Additionally, if you would require a less lively time than we did, it would be equally as good to go here. We will definitely go back!
We have stayed here twice now and each time we have absolutley loved the villa. It is well appointed and is clean and tidy. It is like home from home. The pool is another great assest and the views of Dickensons Bay in the evenings are amazing. Having stayed in resorts previously this is a completley different way to explore the island and much more fun. Looking forward to our next trip in March 2012 !!
We stayed at Hummingbirds Halcyon Heights villa for 14 wonderful days celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been happier!! The villa was very clean and had everything we needed. The pool and grounds were beautiful and very well kept.
The view from the verandah was spectacular with a view overlooking Dickenson Bay. It was in a great location as a base for all of our exploring. We visited many beautiful beaches; Half Moon Bay, Long Bay, Pigeon Bay, Turner Bay and many more.
The people of Antigua are very friendly and were extremely helpful when we needed directions.
We will definitely be back and of course this is the place we'd stay!
Thanks Judy and Robin!! We won't forget our 25th wedding anniversary trip!!
P.S. It was wonderful meeting Joy and Sir Louis!
