Moulin de Maulne loire valley gites are situated in delightful surroundings with a luxury heated pool for friends and families on vacation in the Indre et Loire (department 37) of France. The properties are spacious and comfortably furnished with large living space and well-equipped kitchens with dining table and chairs. The bedrooms are light and airy with amazing uninterrupted views over the garden to the countryside beyond. Each property has super-king size beds (2m x 2m) with 4 pillows and duvet and good storage for your clothes. The bathrooms each have a large shower with excellent pressure, wc and wash hand basin. Linen and towels are provided. The properties share the 12m professional grade pool (heated from June to October to 28 degrees). The surrounding terrace is wide enough and there are sufficient sunloungers and chairs to comfortably accommodate all our guests. The owners are on site.

The Grainstore is our most popular gite and is ideally suited to families or couples who like a bit more space. The ground floor comprises large living room with two comfortable sofas and an armchair, TV with BBC channels and traditional fireplace with adjoining dining area and fully equipped kitchen with oven, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Upstairs, reached by an oak staircase, has two large bedrooms with great views, each with new 2m zip and link beds that are designed to be seamlessly joined or divided into two full size singles. We virtually guarantee you a good night's sleep! The large and bright bathroom has an extra large shower with great pressure and a seat! The Grainstore faces south to the waterfall, potager and meadows beyond and has its own patio separate from the other properties (which are on the other side of the building). This is a private and sunny spot with dining table and chairs with parasol and an outdoor sofa and chairs perfect for relaxing.

Visit the gardens of Villandry or the International Garden Festival at Chaumont. Prefer history, then the chateaux of Le Lude, Usse, Langeais are all a short drive. Vineyards and wine tasting for the professional and amateur alike is an enjoyable day out. Try sparkling white Cremant, red St Nicolas de Bourgueil, rose Azay le Rideau or white Saumur-Champigny. Or if you prefer to relax in the garden there is a river stocked with trout for a spot of fishing; badminton, table tennis, boules and games; or just a hammock in the shade of an old tree with a good book. In the evenings there are several Michelin recommended restaurants nearby or use the large barbecue to cook produce from one of our many local markets and sit under the vines of the large table to enjoy your meal.

super holiday

This is one of the best holiday properties we´ve ever stayed in. The description and photos were topped by the reality.
The Property is lovingly restored und situated in the countryside, close to an town where you can buy nearly everything. The interior has countrylife charme and does not leave much to be desired. We had everything: books, games, DVDs, coffeepadmacine, hairdryer, hoover, lots of coathangers and large comfortable beds 2x2m).We had our own terrace by the house. The garden is also very pretty, with lots of blooming flowers, large spaces of lawn, a brook, a barbecue, garden toys, bicycles, a washing machine an the wonderful heated pool. Our hosts were very nice all the time, were always open for questions or a nice chat. We felt more like staying with friends rather than in a holiday home.
The environment offers lots of opportunities for trips, not only to the castles of the Loire valley, of which some of the largest nand several small ones are all within an hours drive or less.
We would recommend this house to our best friends and would like to come back again.

Our two weeks at Moulin de Maulne was one of the most relaxing and pleasant holidays my wife and our two children (14 and 10) have had. Our hosts Mark and Corinna made us welcome throughout and ensured that the whole experience felt like visiting friends. Particularly enjoyable were the barbeques. Our cottage was clean and well equipped with everything one could ask for. The setting was peaceful and beautiful yet within easy driving of many of the Loires attractions. The locality was ideal for country walks and bike rides.

All in all a fantastic place for a family holiday with lots to do or not to do depending on how energetic you feel.

We would certainly recommend a stay to anyone .....but only after we have booked again!!!!

Fantastic relaxing holiday cottage

We had a fantastic holiday in July 2009 at Moulin de Maulne. The ambience there is very tranquil, the facilities are excellent. The cottage itself was finished to avery high standard and the attention of Mark and Corinna was pitched just right - always there when you needed them but not at all intrusive.

We enjoyed the Sunday barbecues and Mark is no mean cook. The welcome pack of food in the house (including wine) was very thoughtful and lived up to its name - welcome.

The location is pretty handy for chateaux, wine tasting, shopping etc. Nothing more than an hour away and plenty within 40 minutes.

My wife is already planning our return!

The ideal place to relax and unwind

You never quite know what you have booked when you try somewhere new, but when you arrive at Moulin de Maulne all of those concerns quickly evaporate. The welcome we received from Corinna and Mark immediately put us into holiday mode as they showed us around the Grain Store and the rest of the surrounding area. In fact it is basically down to their enthusiasm and friendship that we keep coming back.

Whether you want to explore the vineyards, gardens or chateau of the Loire, or to simply chill out by the pool then you can't go wrong by staying here. If you want to get off the beaten track then Corinna and Mark have some great suggestions for visiting local sites and sampling the local produce.

The gites are really well equipped whether you are coming to stay as a couple in the Stables or Tackroom or with friends or family in the Grain Store or Mill House. One really nice touch is the BBQ on the Sunday evening where everyone is welcome to chat and share a glass of wine. After all, having travelled the day before its nice not to worry about cooking and it gets the holiday off to great start. If you have kids then it is a really safe environment and there is always Lulu the Afghan hound to look after them. Our kids love her.

Each year we have visited Moulin de Maulne it has changed a little, always for the better. So, guess where we have booked for 2009!
