Wonderful location halfway up the Pigalle hill towards Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, this bright and pleasant Parisian 35m2 (370sq.ft) apartment has been renovated by it's architect-owner with all new furnishings and fittings. On the 5th floor in a traditional apartment building with lift and security entrance, the roof top balcony provides views over the Pigalle and the Montmartre area. Enjoy sunset views to the Eiffel Tower. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances including microwave, dishwasher, fridge plus washing machine/dryer. The living/dining area gets the morning sun with big open windows on to the internal courtyard. The bathroom has WC, bath, shower and heated towel rail. The bedroom has a Queens sized bed with a sofa/bed in the living area. Telephone, TV and stereo/FM radio are provided. Within 100 metres are located all the shops you need including fruit and vegetables, butchery, bakery, liquor store, pharmacy and hairdresser

The apartment is located on rue Jean Baptiste Pigalle in the 9th arrondisement and midway up the Montmartre hill. The major fashion stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are about 4 blocks away with the Opera Garnier just beyond. Metro stations close by are on Line 12 and include Pigalle, St-Georges and Trinite. Bus service No.74 runs from the corner and connects to the Louvre, Hotel de Ville and the Marais area. From the balcony you can see the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, and opposite is the street where Vincent Van Gogh's brother, Theo, lived for 40 years. The world famous Moulin Rouge is at the top of the street near Place Pigalle. It is a 25 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride to the River Seine. There is a fresh food market every Saturday morning at rue des Martyrs and loads of shops selling all the delicious French food produces, as well as many excellent restaurants nearby.

Notes: Large Double (Queen size) bed in bedroom sleeps 2 with extra sofa bed. Fully equipped kitchen and microwave/oven can be used for roasting etc. The kitchen is very well equipped for self-catering although there are dozens of restaurants close by. Hair dryer supplied. The apartment is warm in winter and easily heated with the electric heaters supplied whilst the large opening windows boths sides provide through ventilation for summer cooling.

The area is famous for its association with the many painters and artists who worked and dwelt there in the late 19th century including painter Toulouse Lautrec. It has excellent food shops close by with weekend street food markets just 5 minutes walk away at Rue Lepic (around where the movie Amelie was filmed) and Rue Des Martyrs. It is a 10 minute walk to the famed Sacre Coeur church, just the best place to see Parisian sunsets. Major department stores such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are close by with the major galleries easily accessible by Metro or bus.

We enjoyed our stay at this charming, little apartment in Pigalle. The apartment is well equiped with a tiny balcony overlooking the street and with lovely views to Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel Tower. Lots of food shops near by with friendly helpful staff. Easy access to the Metro and within walking distance of Montmartre. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby to suit most tastes and budgets (can recommend Les Comediens on Rue Blanche). Perfect apartment for a couple. The small space has been creatively used to provide all mod cons but getting in and out of the shower is a bit tricky and wouldn't be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The neighbourhood could be described as colourful being in a red light district which may bother some people but we felt perfectly safe. Would stay here again and recommend it to others.
