My husband and I chose to move to Costa Rica in l990 and raise our 2 daughters here in a tropical environment with less modern technology and influences. Since then, Jaco has grown to be the most popular tourist area in the country, but on arrival a simple life amoungst the friendly local people has made us very welcome in their community. We find it very central for doing all kinds of day trips and exploring other areas on weekend trips, enriching our children to live with another culture.
If you like living outdoors, our home open-air styled and the property is confined for your private leisure.
The fauna and flora is amazing in Costa Rica due to the lushness and 4 micro-climates.. You may want to learn some spanish, there are a few language schools you can inquire about (one is on our street). Also, surfing was the #1 attraction in the early years as the conditions are great for learning and at high tide, for the more daring. There are several surf schools along the beach and an air-conditioned gym in town.. Scarlet mcCaws come to eat in the Almond tree next door. You won't miss them advertising their arrival...A very neighbourly fisherman will show up at the door several times a week just before dinner to offer you the latest catch, tuna, swordfish, sea bass, shrimp, and sometimes warm water lobster. An information pamphlet has been prepared with personal references to our favorite activies and restaurants. Basic condiments and spices are always on hand and refreshed often as we use the house ourselves every few weeks so you only have to buy what you are missing. The food selection in Jaco is amazing and the restaurants are numerous and varied, even the local cuisine is the best in all of Central America and you won't need to visit the 'fast food' restaurants that have popped up after having tasted the food at a 'local' 'soda'...
Jaco is very central on the Pacific coast for day trips. We offer several discounts on local activities, ie, canopy tour zip-lines, horseback riding, crocodile jungle safari and birdwatching, sea kayaking with snorkelling, ATV tours. Father of the monkeys tour..
