Photos and Description of the Cercina vacation rental Self-catering accommodation with bathroom, terrace and shared garden.

Characteristic and romantic villa situated at only 7km from Florence and 45 minutes from Siena. The villa is wonderfully positioned and has a full view of Florence and of the surrounding hills. The complex goes back to the Medici period and was originally the oil press belonging to the still existing Castiglioni Castle. In the vicinity, there is a romantic historical church of San Michele a Castioglioni. Possibility of walking itineraries are also available to lovers of country side hikes. The house is completely furnished and has a kitchen and living area on the ground floor, two bedrooms with bathroom on the second floor, central heating, terrace overlooking Florence and garden area. Possibility for car park included. This spectacular setting is at 400m (slm) and is cool and pleasant during the hot summer period. The villa can guest up to 4 people (possibility of cot for babies also available). Frequent transport to city area is available at only 800m from the villa.

The attractions of this area are: VILLA DEMIDOFF'S NATURAL PARK, BILANCINO'S LAKE, CAFAGGIOLO'S CASTLE, TREBBIO'S CASTLE and FORMULA 1'S CIRCUIT, the Monastero di Montesenario and Fiesole. Siena is 70km from the house, San Gimignano 60 km, Pisa 100km and Lucca 84km. Supermarket are at only 7km and the Town centre at 9km. Restaurant at only 1km from the house.

Means of access: From North A1: the exit from autostrada FIRENZE NORD is BARBERINO. You should follow the road signs BORGO SAN LORENZO and then FIRENZE. When you will arriving in Pratolino's country you should follow the road sign SESTO FIORENTINO-MONTE MORELLO. After 4-5 km you have to turn left (Via delle Palaie) and drive down for 800mt. Then you turn left in a country road with cypress trees. This leads to the villa. The palce is called CASTIGLIONI. We will be there to welcome you- From South and Airport: you should follow the road signs OSPEDALE DI CAREGGI. Once at the hospital you follow the road signs for SERPIOLLE-CERCINA. When we get the Piazza of the Church of Cercina (Chiesa di Cercina)you have to turn left in VIA DELLA FONTACCIA and drive up for 700mt. Then you turn right in a country road with cypress trees. This leads to the villa. The place is called CASTIGLIONI.

Three of us 'over seventies' enjoyed two weeks stay over the Christmas
New Year period. We had a hire car which was essential although we
used the local bus frequently to visit Firenze. It is a beautiful spot and
a good base for touring as most of the historic towns in Tuscany are
at most an hour or two away. The accommodation is homely and adequate, particularly for a couple with two young or teenage children, as there are bunk beds in the second room !
We were old but fit, but we would not recommend it to anyone having agility problems as the access tracks are quite steep and uneven around the property.
The proprietors and their daughters are welcoming and helpful, and only round
the corner in case of need. Altogether a relaxed and friendly place to stay.
