In the lively 15th district, on the third floor of a very small building on a private street, sits a totally new one bedroom apartment built in July of 2005. Calm and very bright ( living room, kitchen : southern exposure) this 500 sq foot (45 sq meter) apartment is conveniently located near good public transportation, yet far from the madding crowds. Excellent food shopping in walking distance (six bakeries, excellent butcher, two green grocers, one cheese shop and a good, clean supermarket). A spirited roving market comes to rue de la Convention three times a week for your convenience.
The apartment is modern and comfortable with lots of windows, an open kitchen with a long bar for your dining convenience and a comfortable sleep sofa, cable TV CD player and radio. The open kitchen is fully-equipped with all the amenities of home; your own, personal washer and dryer are in the basement. There is a place for your laptop (high speed access via cable or WIFI) in the bedroom, and the bathroom and separate toilet have been beautifully tiled.
Public Transportation :
Plaisance station (line 13)
Convention station (line 12)
bus 95 ( 10 minutes to Montparnasse, 12 minutes to St Germain,15-20 minutes to the Louvre and Opera)
We just spent the month of October in this wonderful apartment. As others have stated if you have the chance to book it, DO IT! It is as good as advertised and even better than the pictures show as it now has a very convenient dining room table and chairs instead of the bar stools. We had many wonderful home cooked FRENCH meals there. We felt safe and secure at all times and were completely comfortable. It had absolutely everything we needed for our stay including the all important iron!
We could walk to Montparnasse Station in under 15 minutes and the Latin Quarter or the Eiffel Tower in about half an hour.
When we needed them the bus stops were a 3 minute walk and both Metro stations were no more than 10 minutes away. Shops and grocery stores area literally around the corner.
Andie and Georges are probably the best things that come with the apartment. From making sure we were comfortably settled in to seeing us off in the taxi to the airport they were there for us. Just knowing they were right next door, only a door-bell ring away was comforting.
The apartment is cozy, clean and bright and situated in a pleasant, safe, and non-touristy area. Bus and Metro connections are conveniently nearby and easily walkable. The owners were gracious, hepful, and lots of fun. We booked it based on all the positive reviews, which turned out to be totally accurate. Our only disappointment is that it is so popular that availability is very limited.
My girls and I stayed there for 5 nights in December. The apt was very comfortable and convenient. While a bit out of the way, the bus service is just a block away and took us everywhere we wanted to go. there were lots of shops nearby so there was no problem buying provisions.
The open kitchen was good and made for a great environment for our evening recap after a day of sightseeing. The bathroom is brand new and well equipped, the bedroom was very comfortable and the sleeper-sofa was also really good. The elevator was also really welcome after a day of walking all over town!
The only complaint we had was that the heat took a while to kick in - having arrived in winter and the apt was not occupied for a while before we got there... it was very cold until the next night so if you travel in the winter, ask the landlord to turn on the heat before you arrive.
Andie, first, our apologies for not posting this review sooner. Second, my sister and I had a most wonderful week in your apartment. Although it is not in the center of the city (who wants to pay Marais or 5eme-6eme-7eme prices for inferior apartments anyway?), every place one would want to visit is within easy reach by bus or metro. Markets, restaurants, post office, banks, bakeries, etc. are just a few steps or a very short distance away. The apartment is bright and airy; has all the kitchen and bathroom amenities necessary for a comfortable stay; has a reliable wifi connection; has ample storage space. We felt safe in the building and the neighborhood. Best of all was Andie's welcome and farewell visit - we promise to come again!
If you are lucky enough to book this darling place, do it at ONCE! It is EXACTLY as advertised and we are currently enjoying our first of four weeks here. It's immaculate, spacious (by our standards), with plenty of storage, light, bright, quiet, and Andie, the owner, is completely charming and accommodating.
We are moments away from all transportation, shopping for everything we need is handy, there are reasonable restaurants in our 'hood, the building is completely secure, the kitchen is just dandy and handy to use. Trouble is, the place is so booked by happy tenants that we can't get in again for a long time and have to seek other arrangements for next year.
We recently spend a month at this charming apartment. It was exactly as advertised - bright, clean, convenient and comfortable - with everything we needed to make our time in Paris just perfect. Andi and George, the apartment owners both fluently bilingual, are nearby and extremely helpful without being intrusive. The street is quiet and the surrounding neighbourhood is a wonderful little slice of Paris. We lived like Parisians, shopping at the market, buying our newspapers and tickets at the nearby Press shop, standing in line for fresh warm baguettes, going to the movies, sitting in the park, checking out the local cafes and restaurants. And central Paris is within easy reach with great bus service - the stop just a few steps away - and it's not far to the metro station. We even walked to the Seine and to Montparnasse. We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants the experience of being so much more than a tourist in this wonderful city - we hope to return soon!
