This beautiful OCEANFRONT HOME is both welcoming and laid-back, the perfect family destination or romantic getaway. This home will instantly feel like your very own private beach house. The property offers all of the abundant thoughtful features as found in your own home, and more. The house is located in a wonderful, small community of oceanfront homes.
The house has HIGH OPEN BEAM CEILINGS, with beautiful ceiling fans, through all living areas. The home features stone and tile floors throughout. The home offers a state of the art central air conditioning system in all bedrooms. The many large window doors form a wonderfully open, expansive and light environment. Ceiling fans and trade winds lazily cool the common areas. The house has a stunning ocean-view, fully appointed, gourmet kitchen for when you choose to cook and great restaurants close by, in Haleiwa, when you choose not to. It is situated just down the beach from the location where the 'Lost' survivors landed on the beach, in one of the most undeveloped areas of Hawaii.
The location offers unsurpassed sunset and ocean views.

We had the best family vacation ever, in this wonderfull house.Watched the resident sea turtles every morning. Then the sky divers would start dropping out of the sky.Loved the private beach and all of the wonderfull activities,Kayaks, snorkeling gear, boggie boards, surf boards. The house was every thing that we had hoped for++..The owner was great to work with and we would highly recomend this great house. We had 20 days of heaven here and are planing on returning!!!!
We are a family of five with three older children. This house exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival and entering the house, we were met with a breathtaking view of the ocean. We immediately went outside and took in the ocean air, view and the sounds of the waves crashing against the ocean wall. The house is warm, inviting and has all of the amentities for a relaxing stay.
All of the activities North Shore has to offer such as, snorkeling, surfing(Buttons), paddleboard, swimming with the sharks(Sharks Adventures) Sky Diving, Horseback riding on the beach, and the Historical town of Haliewa are nearby. The food trucks, restaurants and shops in Haliewa are must do's.
The area is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist populated area's. We highly recommend this house. The owner Gary, was great and very attentive from our first inquiry to the end of our stay. We will be back!!
This house was perfect for a family. We had 4 adults and 3 kids and it fit us perfectly. There was plenty of space. The ocean view was just beautiful and you can't beat hearing the waves as you lay in bed. Just a heads up that, at least while we were there in December, there wasn't really easy beach access for little kids. But there was snorkeling and kayaking out your back door. If, like me, you have some reservations about for rent by owner, I can't recommend Gary and this beautiful home enough. Gary was always helpful and responsive in the lead up to our trip. Everything was absolutely above board. And Penny, the local manager, was quick to respond anytime we had a question. We loved staying in this awesome location, away from all the craziness, but with easy access to Haliewa for charming restaurants and shops. We never wanted to leave!
We are Oregon teachers and not wealthy people. We spent LOTS of our hard earned money to stay in a beach front place in Hawaii. We were disappointed at the state of the house, but it did explain why it was cheaper than other similar rentals. Extremely moldy shower curtain, nasty bathtub enamel, broken garage door (they did fix it), broken faucet (they got this fixed), the fridge wasn't working (we were able to fix this), fans were really wobbly, the house was HOT except for the bedrooms, the kitchen smelled of mildew, the couches were worn and dirty, everything looked clean, but if we looked under the bed or in the corners we could see it needed a thorough cleaning. Some of the things that they supplied were broken and old, and some had missing parts. The neighbors on both sides were also vacation rentals. One side was really loud. There was NO way my kids could get to the water (they are only 7 & 9). So, it was a bit of a disappointment from the picture of actual sand in front of the house. I did read in the fine print that stated the sand wasn't always there. We did see turtles, and went fishing (but didn't catch anything) The good things about the house was the size, the washer and dryer, the locating (not so many people/hustle and bustle of the other side of the island). So, it was just okay. Never the less I don't think we could have done better for the price.
This was a birthday trip to celebrate my Mother's 94 birthday. There were 4 adults in our group, ranging in age from 50-ish to 94. The Hawaii House was perfect for us! Each had their own room which provided privacy and yet the open floor plan of the house kept everyone involved. The fact that it was all one level, with no steps into the house, plus the walk-in shower in the second bathroom, made it very accessible for someone requiring a walker for ambulation. The backyard was so nice and level without obstruction which made it perfect for maneuvering with a walker. Everything was clean and neat. Nice big bath towels and lots of beach towels. Really appreciated the retractable close-line in the covered lanai for hanging wet suits, and the grill was put to good use. Being from the humid South, I was skeptical about the air conditioning only being in the bedrooms; thought for sure we'd die of the heat in August. But I was made a believer! Just open the sliding glass doors and the windows and the most perfect ocean breeze kept us perfectly comfortable! Even on the hottest of days. I'm a believer now! The view was superb!!!! Nothing can beat waking up to the palm trees and beautiful ocean view, then stepping outside to lounge in a chair with your morning coffee! Emails with the owner were prompt and very helpful. The directions to the house were spot-on, and it was a great location/home base for all our sight-seeing. I read all of the reviews prior to booking this home and want to say that if you require extremely high-end appointed accommodations, this is not the intent of Hawaii House. It IS a cozy, homey, comfortable "cottage by the sea" for those looking for a more laid-back style. The only clarification I would offer is that due to time/weather/ etc. (all things OUT of the owner's control) there is no beach, only rocks. Did not feel comfortable venturing into the ocean form the backyard steps due to this, but there are many wonderful beaches within just a few miles. And even with out a beach, having the ocean in your backyard with all its beauty was wonderful! Would definitely stay here again. Mahalo Gary!
Would you like to snorkel with humuhumunukunukualuapa'a, kayak with sea turtles, paddleboard, kite surf, hike, eat freshly fallen coconut, watch skydivers and gliders, ride horses on the beach, and experience lush volcanic jungles and warm pacific beaches in the same breath? Then Hawaii House is for you. She is close enough to civilization and all the North Shore shave ice, shrimp trucks, restaurants, and other tourist attractions yet five minutes from the literal end of the road on Oahu where the free ranging chickens add to the cool rural vibe.
Hawaii House is depicted well in the photos with stunning ocean vistas, blossoming gardens and the colorful clothes she wears. Her bedrooms are ample and well appointed, even with occasional gecko. Our family of 7 was very comfortable in the air conditioned bedrooms. The kitchen was large and open with granite surfaces, dishwasher and electric range. It was well stocked with utensils (except for forks and spoons :)
The owners graciously provide kayaks, snorkeling equipment, beach gear and with the two rods we caught and released many reef fish and crab off the sea wall. The Wifi and outdoor shower were a hit with our five teenagers. The public beach pedestrian access in the immediate vicinity is closed but we easily waded/swam to the area which lies 100 yds down the shore.
Despite some very minor wear and tear issues, as one would expect from an owner operated, ~50 year old, wood constructed, tropical beach house with high rental use (as exaggerated previously), we rate our experience in Hawaii House as one of our best family vacations and highly recommend!
