The Oak Lodge is located on the historic “island" of Mt. Kineo, an area rich with history and beauty. In fact, the seven cottages on 'cottage row' were recently selected by the national register of historic places as a historic district. Specifically, the Oak Lodge was cited for being one of the 'few Mission style homes from the Arts & Crafts era in Maine.' The newest owners have divided it in half and use one side for themselves and rent out the other half as its own unit. Mt. Kineo is not accessible by car, there is a ferry shuttle service. There is also a private dock if you have or will rent a boat. We STRONGLY recommend that you rent a golf cart, even if you don’t play golf! Contact Mt. Kineo golf course for more info. Golf carts are great to explore the island with, and access the famous “pebble beach," one of the most beautiful beaches on the lake, located by the rock cliffs. This lodge has been recently remodelled and is beautiful, combined with this absolutely unique location, this is truly a great vacation getaway.
