Photos and Description of the Son Parc vacation rental Overlooking golf course and 3 min drive/20 min walk from beach

This recently refurbished villa sleeps 7 + cot and is available for rental throughout the year. It is ideal for families and forms part of a private owners group of 12 with a shared pool. There is a double bedroom upstairs with private bathroom and two terraces. Downstairs there are two bedrooms sharing another bathroom. The first bedroom has twin beds and the other has bunk beds and a single bed. There is a spacious living/dining area with dining tables and chairs, and fully equipped new kitchen (fitted Spring 07). The living area has a large sofa and two chairs and a wood burner for winter rentals. The backdoor opens onto a veranda, near the swimming pool. The terrace at the front of the house has outside table, chairs and BBQ. There is also a washing machine. Son Parc is built around the islands 18 hole golf course which is a 3min walk from the house. The beautiful Son saura beach is 3min drive/20 min walk away. It is self catering with a local supermarket and restaurants close by.

Nearest Airport: Mahon at 25 Kilometres
Nearest Ferry: Mahon at 20 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 1.0 Miles
Son Parc is next to the islands 18 hole golf course. There is also a driving range, putting green, pitching green and tennis courts. The wonderful family friendly beach at Son Parc is shallow and ideal for children. The local fishing port, Fornells, is a short drive away and offers sailing, windsurfing, diving and catamaran charters. Mahon's buzzing port offers boat trips and a large choice of restaurants. The old towns of both Mahon and Ciudadela are each worth a visit when you tire of the pool and beach. There is also a sports centre in Mahon which offers a gym and indoor swimming pool. Monte Toro is the highest point on the island and the church is well worth a visit to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the entire island. UNESCO recently declared Menorca a Biosphere reserve, ensuring that large parts of the island should be protected as either Areas of Special Natural Interest or Areas of Rural Landscape Interest which makes it ideal for bird watching.

  • A deposit of 20% is required with booking. Balance of payment is required 6 weeks prior to arrival. When your balance payment is received we will send you the directions to the property from Mahon airport plus key details. A security deposit of £75 to be paid at the same time as the balance payment against loss or damage (this will be refunded 10 days after departure). Payment can either be made by cheque or bank transfer in £ or €.

Very quiet and pleasant holiday villa.

Let’s get the only (possible) negative out of the way first. The facilities section mentions a TV but there is no satellite or ariel meaning no broadcast TV and it can only be used for DVDs. That said, we were actually quite pleased by this as it meant our 6 year old had no distractions meaning she spent a lot more time in the pool and playing games.

OK, now the positives.

In the villa the facilities are very good and easily provide everything you would need for a good break. The kitchen facilities are great and the artist’s impression in the advert really doesn't do it justice! All the utensils you would need for cooking and eating in the villa are there in plentiful supply. Outside, the pool was clean and the grounds well maintained and there are plenty of seats and loungers.

We felt the location of Son Parc means to do anything other than relax by the pool means you really need a car, Menorca is not a big island and driving is actually a pleasure with quiet roads and no-one really in a hurry to get anywhere. There are lots of places worth visiting and the yellow folder in the villa gives a lot of very useful information.

Food can be a bit hit and miss but we found the food at the Son Parc golf club to be good and reasonably priced, the service is good and the staff are friendly. If you find yourself in Mahon and like sea food, try to find the Taverna Del Mar – you will not find anything about it on the internet but the locals in the know eat here and it is a real gem and the prices are so cheap in comparison to the typical tourist type restaurants of Mahon.

One thing I would recommend is horse riding. There is a place between Es Mercadal and Ferreries called ‘Menorca a cavall’, prices here were reasonable and the people very friendly and they cater for everyone. I think there may be a leaflet for this in the villa’s yellow information folder.

We had a fantastic weeks holiday and came home very relaxed. We are planning to get back out later this year but hopefully this time it will be for two weeks.

P.S. I would have given the villa 4.5 stars but you can’t do halves.

We renteed this villa in August - the temperature touched 40 degress on a couple of days but being by the pool and in the shade of the appartment (which has fans in the ceiling in the bedroom) was great.
The villa is well maintained and clean. The waashing machine was a great asset, especailly with children.

We really enjoyed our holiday, we felt that the location was just right for everything we needed. Quiet, but not too quiet. We hired a car and got out and about quite a bit too. We found the other villa occupants to be very friendly and the children played well together.
We would visit again.
