Relax and enjoy peace and tranquillity in this tastefully refurbished Victorian tile hung cottage with its large, pretty, well maintained cottage garden, idyllically situated in a quite lane between the villages of Etchingham and Ticehurst, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Moon Cottage has the benefit of a conservatory/dining room which overlooks the garden and patio, a haven for many species of wild birds. To the front of the cottage is woodland and to the rear, farmland. In cooler weather enjoy the cosy living room with its log burning stove. The accommodation provides living room with log burning stove, leather suite, radio/CD, TV/ DVD/Digibox. Fitted oak kitchen containing washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave. First floor bedroom with king size bed, TV, looking onto woodland; second floor bedroom with twin beds, TV/DVD and a stunning view from dormer window. A 'Z' bed is available to accommodate a fifth person. BBQ, Off road parking.

This extensively equipped self-catering holiday cottage is both comfortable and stylish and ideally situated on the Sussex/Kent border, approx 12 miles from the Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, 16 miles from the picturesque and ancient town of Rye, 12 miles from Battle and the 1066 country and 16 miles from Hastings, the nearest south coast resort. From Etchingham Station there are fast trains to London and the South Coast. There is an abundance of places of interest, historic sites and National Trust properties in the vicinity, including Batemans the home of Rudyard Kipling, Scotney Castle, Bodium Castle and Leeds Castle. For garden lovers visit the National Pinetum at Bedgebury, Sissinghurst, Pashley Manor or just relax in our own pretty cottage garden. For the more active, Moon Cottage is near to Bewl Water Reservoir which offers a range of sporting activities, including sailing, wind-surfing, fishing, riding and cycling, and 18 hole Ian Woosnam Course at Dale Hill Golf Club

Notes: There is a rollaway bed available for a fifth guest. The conservatory/dining room, which houses an extendable pine table, opens onto an attractive and secluded patio area. A Webber barbeque, sun loungers and sun umbrella are available. In the living room is a cosy wood burning stove. Guests are invited to enjoy the facility of our own 40 acre woodland in Flimwell with its picnic area and stream which is the tributary of the River Bewl, just a short walk from Bewl Water and connecting by public footpath also to Bedgebury Forest (less than a 10 minute drive from Moon Cottage); the woods are especially beautiful in April/May when there is a blanket of Blue Bells.

Moon Cottage

Moon Cottage was highly recommended by friends and lived up to our expectations.
The property is not isolated but is completely secluded, with rear conservatory, sheltered garden and large lawn. All our immediate needs were catered for in the nearby villages and towns when we wanted to rest; for excursions the beautiful Wealden countryside was on the doorstep and very many places of interest in East Sussex and Kent were within easy reach by car. Etchingham railway station is on the London-Hastings line.
The house itself is very generously equipped; we particularly appreciated the welcoming touches (wine and roses), the kitchen and conservatory, the top-up heating for chilly evenings (it was August, but one of us is 82), and the pleasures of a spacious bathroom.
As a native of Sussex now living abroad, it was an ideal base for revisiting the county and I shall certainly book again. "

Moon cottage

Moon cottage is a fancy furnished and comfortable cottage, situated in very calm surroundings. It is well-equipped and you find everything you need to spend a relaxing holiday. The garden is really wonderful with all its flowers and you can enjoy nature even by rain sitting in the conservatory. We would like to come back again.

Moon Cottage - Ticehurst - August 2008

We arrived at the cottage on a warm sunny day and we were struck by the wonderful old English style garden in full bloom. Inside was very clean and the place is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. Importantly for me, as Goodwood racing was on, a modern digital TV.

The location is in beautiful countryside, and it is very quiet, with surprisingly little traffic on the road, we learnt that this is because there is a weight limiting bridge restricting heavy vehicles.

There is a lot to do within an easy drive, including visits to the coast. Tonbridge Wells is only 15 minutes away and we found ourselves eating out there several times.

This is the perfect place to enjoy some of the best that England has to offer and we recommend it wholeheartedly.
