With capacity for 14 people and situated in the Aquitaine between the Lot et Garonne and Dordogne borders, Fon du Bourg consists of two self-catering adjacent holiday properties, both renovated to the highest standards, retaining original oak beams, stone walls and tiled floors. Luxuriously equipped and beautifully furnished, the two units are ideal together for larger groups of family or friends. Gardens provide space and privacy between each building and the private, 12 x 6 metre swimming pool with Roman steps and its own large pool house and covered terrace, enjoys stunning views and sun throughout the day. Superbly situated for touring both the Dordogne and the Bastide towns of the beautiful Lot countryside, the properties are only a half hour drive from several excellent 18 hole golf courses. There are a wealth of leisure activities in the area including horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, vineyard visits, traditional local markets, karting, water-parks and swimming lakes.

For large families of up to 14 people, two families wanting to holiday together or a large group of friends; Fon du Bourg is ideal. There are two beautifully renovated farm buildings in a superb rural setting with a private 12 by 6 metre swimming pool with it's own pool-house. The immediate area has great countryside, walks and bike rides, lots of history, bastide towns, castles and plenty of leisure activities. The accommodation is superbly equipped and is very comfortable. Out of season bookings are well catered for with central heating and log fires in each unit. Farmhouse and the Chai are separate buildings, each with their own luxurious facilities but next door to each other so you can enjoy time together or a little peace and quiet if you want as well. The farmhouse has a large kitchen, huge living room, 4 bedrooms one en-suite, family bathroom, cloakroom and terrace. The Chai has 3 bedrooms, one en-suite; a bathroom, salon, kitchen, dining room and covered terrace.

Romantic and rural, 'Fon du Bourg' is situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Douzains, which is 6 kms from the nearest market town of Castillonnes, and 23 kms from Bergerac and its airport. (Daily flights from Southampton, Stansted, Exeter, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh with Ryanair and Flybe). The property is surrounded by the beautiful open rolling countryside of the Aquitaine. The larger regional airports of Bordeaux and Toulouse are just one and a half hours drive. There is a wealth of places to see and things to do including visits to the Chateaux and romantic castles built during the 100 years war, canoeing on the Dordogne, the fabulous local traditional markets, hundreds of vineyards, wonderfully scenic medieval villages, a day trip to the gorgeous white sand beaches of the Atlantic coast, karting, bowling and Aqua parks at Bergerac, leisure lakes and activity centres at the Lac de Gurzon; or just walks, cycle rides or horse riding on any of the country lanes near us.

Additional information about rental rates

  • All prices are per week from Saturday to Saturday and are quoted in euros (equivalent pounds sterling are shown in second column. Guests should arrive after 4pm and should vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure.
  • Prices include all bed linen and bath towels which are changed weekly but do not include pool towels; please bring your own. Electricity, gas, constant hot water and final cleaning are all included in the rental price, additional cleaning can be arranged at an extra cost. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of 25% deposit and full payment is required 8 weeks prior to arrival, as is a security deposit of 600 euros which is returned after the end of the holiday period. Please ensure that your travel insurance fully covers you against cancellation.

Notes: Each building has its own superbly equipped kitchen with 6 ring range stove, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and large fridge freezer, each property has a very large living room with comfortable seating, widescreen TV with CD/DVD player. There are two terraces, one covered and one with a large inclinable awning. The pool, which is exclusively for your use, has a large pool-house with covered terrace, table and chairs, recliners, parasols, barbecue and fridge freezer. There is also a separate washroom and W/C. Leisure facilities include table tennis, badminton and boules.

We are situated in the middle of the old Aquitaine and every village and town has something of historical interest . There are many Chateaux and castles within easy travelling distance from us and the countryside is amongst the finest in France.There are many lovely walks , great lanes for cycling, horse riding and golf courses of championship standard within a half hour drive . You may enjoy the bustle of the local markets, all taking place in the villages and towns dating back to the 12th century, and there are, of course, a wealth of local restaurants where you can enjoy some superb food.

Other Activities: Horse riding, cycling, aqua parks, karting, vineyards, leisure lakes.

The photographs of this property simply don't do it it justice! The location is excellent, very much in the country but only a couple of miles from Castillonnes which has most facilities, and about 10 miles from Eymet with even more. The views from the pool terrace are of stunning countryside all around. The properties are a delight, loads of room, sparkling clean, and well equipped. the owners are close enough to be helpful and friendly but not so close that you are being "watched"! We had half of our family in these properties (12 people in all) and they all loved their stay here. The owners, Liz and Kevin, couldn't have been more helpful and were great fun to have around. We would highly recommend both the properties and the location for almost everyone. Due to the location of the pool on a slope above the houses, this property might not be suitable for some disabled people, but my 83 year old father in law managed without any difficulty.

The property is within easy travelling distance of Sarlat, Domme, Bergerac, and Monpazier to name a few. There are countless things to do nearby, we went horseriding a couple of times, the stables are about 6 miles away and the owners very friendly and helpful, and they don't mind if you haven't ridden before. Canoeing on the Dordogne was great fun, tennis courts can be found in Lauzun, about 3 miles away, and there is plenty of space around the property for other activities. The BBQ was very well used and we mostly ate outdoors. There was plenty of seating and loungers for everyone around the pool, so no hassles there.

Overall 9.5/10. We would highly recommend this property and are very likely to book it again if we are back in the area.
