Luxuriously equipped and beautifully furnished, the Pigeonnier is the perfect holiday rental for couples or a young family. Ideally situated for touring both the Dordogne and the Bastide towns, castles and Chateaux of the stunning local countryside, the property is also only a half hour drive from several good 9 and18 hole golf courses including Chateau Vigiers, Castelnau de Guyenne, Tombeboeuf,Sarlat and Siorac There are traditional local markets every day of the week many in extraordinarily well preserved medieval villages or you may want to go horse riding, karting, ten pin bowling,or simply enjoy a walk on any of the country lanes. The Pigeonnier is also perfect for a romantic winter break with it's wood burning stove and full central heating

The Pigeonnier is situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Douzains which is 7 kms from the Bastide town of Castillonnes, and 23 kms from Bergerac and its airport ( daily flights from many UK airports with Ryanair and Flybe). The property is surrounded by the beautiful open rolling countryside of the Aquitaine and is just 8kms from the Dordogne border; it is also only a half hour drive from several good golf courses, including the very attractive St. Vigier golf course outside St. Foy le Grand. There are a wealth of things to see and do including visiting romantic castles perched on precipitous cliff faces, gorgeous Chateaux, the formal gardens at Marqueyssac, hundreds of vineyards, the wonderful local markets set in unspoilt medieval villages like Villereal, Monflanquin or Belvès and Monpazier, or, for the more energetic, karting, Aquaparks, surfing and bodyboarding on the Atlantic coast, cycling and canoeing on the Dordogne and Vezére rivers

  • All prices are per week, Saturday to Saturday, and are given in Euros. Pounds Sterling are shown as approximate equivalent. Guests can arrive after 4pm and should vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure. Prices include all bed linen and bath towels (change supplied each week) but not pool towels. Please bring your own. Electricity, gas, constant hot water and final cleaning are also all included in the rental price. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of 25% deposit and full payment is required 8 weeks prior to arrival, as is a security deposit of 300 Euros, which is returned after the end of the holiday period, subject to any breakages or damage. Please ensure that you are fully insured against cancellation.

Notes: This distinctive Perigourdine tower has been skilfully renovated to make the most of its original character and provides luxurious accommodation for two to four people with its own private 8 by 4 metre swimming pool. The covered porch entrance opens onto the inner hall and spacious lounge with stone fireplace and wood burning stove. The living room has comfortable chairs and sofa, (which can convert to a full size double bed), and is fully equipped with satellite TV, video and HiFi. French doors from the living room lead out to the large, covered, south facing Terrace with hardwood table and chairs and Bbq. The kitchen, occupying the base of the tower, is fully fitted with cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine and has seating for 4. The downstairs bathroom has both shower and separate bath with WC and washbasin. The bedroom occupies the whole of the first floor of the tower and with its thick stonewalls and polished wood floor stays pleasantly cool in summer

These properties have exclusive use of a second larger 12 by 6 metre pool. Please note that multiple bookings attract a 5% discount on the total price of the holiday rental.
