I bought this property totally unrestored, no staircase, kitchen, Bathrooms etc - just the basic exterior in the most magical position & I spent 18 months restoring it - finishing just in time to hold my daughter's wedding there in September 2003 - a really magical event. It is now a much loved family home & we all have wonderful holidays there & love it when the clients really appreciate it.

Celestia Fox purchased this villa in 2001

I first visited it on a very rainy day in January - the fog was so thick you couldn't even see to the edge of the first terrace - I knew what the view would be but couldn't believe it when I returned, having bought it on the spot, 2 months later. I desperately wanted an old property & it is now exactly as I envisaged it - one of the most beautiful houses in NE Corfu!

I think this area of Corfu is one of the most wonderful places to holiday in Europe - incredibly beautiful, still amazingly unspoilt with the most perfect sea, wonderful tavernas & the most incredibly hospitable & charming inhabitants. Wonderful for walking amongst the wild flowers in the Spring,Beach life in the Summer, great night life & Corfu town, one of the most magical towns in Greece.

The height of good taste

A beautiful yet practical and thoughtfully laid out house in a stunning & commanding setting and with a fabulous view which, even in the memory, lifts the soul.
This house comfortably accommodated 5 couples for a week in early May 2013 coping well with a bit of mixed weather.
The maid Vera cooked, cleaned extremely well and the house was supplied initially with most of what we asked for when we arrived.
Approached up an impressive zig-zag hill, set in working olive groves the final approach belies the sea view side of the property.
There is a helpful shop and bakery (Aphrodite's) at the bottom of the hill giving an energising walk back up!

This house has been very carefully finished so as not to to be overdone to the extent that one would be nervous of knocking over a glass of wine yet in good taste. Initially we would have enjoyed a warmer pool but as the weather improved we were grateful of the soothing coolness. The gardens and barb-q facilities all heavenly with the plants scenting the air in the latter part of the day.
The owner was very helpful and responsive to our requests for information and help.

A very happy time long to be remembered in a grown up house.

Katavolos House

This was a beautiful house, immaculate, decorated in whites and pale blues, and perfectly positioned half way up the mountain with a view over the bay. Almost all the windows opened onto the view over the well planted garden and the sea. We ate our meals at the round stone table on the terrace by candlelight and cooked local fish on the big barbecue. The swimming pool was warm and clean - people came to maintain it regularly - and two charming maids tidied and cleaned every morning. The pool is fenced and gated so that small children can't get to it without supervision. When there was a problem it was quickly and effectively dealt with by the local office. The north east coast of Corfu is lovely, and we found lots of seaside tavernas with good food. We also rented boats and motored to quiet bays where we could snorkel. Our grandchildren enjoyed Aqualand, and we took a fascinating boat trip to Albania and Butrint. The drive up to the house is twisty but manageable and there is a well stocked shop at the bottom of the hill. I would recommend Katavolos House wholeheartedly, and would love to return.

Dreamy time in Greece

We had an amazing 5 days at this villa in June 2011 - it has the best view of any accommodation I have ever stayed in. Celestia the owner was a complete pleasure to deal with and she provided great tips and instructions for our stay.

The information for arrival was perfect and we found the villa without problems - although I was pleased that we arrived in the daylight and the are no street lamps for evening driving.

The villa itself is large and there is more than enough room for 10 people. A team of cleaners also came for two hours everyday as part of the rental price - a real treat! It was clean on arrival and we had plenty of linen and towels (although some linen had seen better days when reported Celestia was quick to replace). The water pressure was very weak but a plumber was onsite within an hour of reporting the issue and a new pump was installed.

The outside eating areas were absolutely stunning and we used the BBQ on a couple of nights too which was great.

There are some great local restuarants all within a 10/15 minute drive of the villa (special shout out to Eleni at the beach in Nisaki) and the local beach is small but clean and perfect for families. We also hired a boat from Stefanos at the local beach - great value and an excellent way to spend the day exporing the coves around the the coast.

All in all a great holiday and time in Corfu we will definitely be going back.

Heaven on Earth

The long and winding road that leads you to Katavalos is as romantic a journey - filled with anticipation - as that that leads one to Manderlay. You arrive at the house and find it is everything and more you dreamt it would be. Faded blue wooden shutters, airy bedrooms with crisp white linen, cool tiled floors, a warm breeze coming from the sea below, an infinity pool, tables shaded by olive trees and an immediately welcoming atmosphere. It is a house and location that manages to cater for all tastes: romantic breaks, bucket-and-spade school holidays with young children, demanding teenagers, the Big Chill-type gatherings and girly, lethargic weekends away. A real treasure. Customer service is faultless, the house is superbly kitted out and should one feel inclined to leave paradise, one of the most beautiful beach restaurants - Agni Taverna - is but a ten minute drive away. The adventurous can rent a small boat and potter around the coast. It's close to heaven.

A Magical Week

This old Corfiot house, with probably one of the most spectacular views on the island, has everything needed for the perfect holiday. It has been beautifully and authentically restored, is very comfortable and well equipped and has a fabulous terrace surrounded by olive trees, overlooking the sea - what more could you want!

The house is within easy reach of wonderful beaches, excellent tavernas and bars, mountains for hiking, Corfu old town and Kassiopi for those who like clubbing.

If you felt in need of some exercise, it's fun to walk to the bottom of the hill to Aphrodite's, to pick up croissants for breakfast - not recommended in the height of summer.

It was a memorable holiday and I'm much looking forward to going back - if I may.
