Perched high above beautiful Tomales Bay, at 19570 State Route 1, Marshall, Ravensview Cottage is a private and quiet retreat, 'so close...and a world away'. Only an hour north of San Francisco, you'll feel you've traveled to a remote and hidden paradise. West Marin is largely agricultural, dotted with dairy ranches and small, quaint towns, and is the home to Point Reyes National Seashore, one of the most beautiful national parks in the country.
There's an endless list of things to do nearby, from feasting on 'the best BBQ oysters on the planet' and kayaking (just steps from the cottage), to taking all-day guided trips of the park by foot or boat, or getting a massage at nearby Osmosis, or spending the day in the wine country. Without leaving the cottage -- or your private hot tub -- you'll gaze at the Bay to your west, and pastureland to the east and see a variety of domestic and wild animal life - from the resident ravens and great blue herons, to grazing cows and the occasional bobcat, fox or wild turkey.
The cottage is cozy and warm, but spacious in design and feel, and features many hand-crafted artistic details and lovely interior furnishings. It's perfect for two and can accommodate a family of 5. There are two beds downstairs (a queen and a single) and another queen bed in the upstairs loft. We are pleased to be family and pet-friendly. Well behaved and quiet dogs welcome.
The fully-stocked kitchen has all of the supplies you'll need and want, including complimentary fixings for complete breakfasts. There are some great restaurants nearby, too. Many guests prefer to BBQ or cook at the cottage. You have many choices.
Most of our guests tell us they wish they'd booked a longer stay. Do give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the peace and quiet beauty between adventures. It's hard to leave, once you're here! If you must bring some work with you, you'll have wifi and free phone service to make it easy.

RavensView Cottage was even better than I expected - and I expected a lot. Cottage itself is wonderful - beautiful wood details, window above kitchen table with a view of the water, decorated with delightful character. The innkeepers are gracious and and thoughtful with spot-on restaurant and hiking recommendations, Dog Tiny welcomed us and made us feel at home. We hiked in Pt. Reyes National Seashore and watched elk and whales, delighted in the cows that came right up near the cabin, loved the mini garden with fresh produce available for guests, and even looked forward to inclement weather so we could snuggle up with all sorts of good reading material found in the cottage. Wonderful scenery, cheeses, and restaurants in the area. We've vacationed in B&Bs for the past 20 years and RavensView Cottage is one of my top three. Would return in a heartbeat.
Stayed September 2010,
We're just an hour from the Napa Valley, California's premier wine region. A fabulous spa, Osmosis, is a 25 minute drive away.
